What can I say , I'm as happy as a dog with 2 dicks !

As many on this forum have come to know I've never seen Liverpool FC win AWAY under Benitez despite attending 11 Prem aways last season, 1 FA Cup tie at Burnley and a Carling Cup Final in Cardiff :oops:

Last season I travelled far and wide even risking life, limb and sanity by going to Burnley (Twice) in the vain hope that I would see them win. Bolton, Blackburn, Portsmouth, Southampton, Everton, Man City, Boro, Brum, Villa, Man U and one other ground which I can;t remember !

But all that past woe was to end yesterday at Man City when I took my seat (ROW D 268) nad prayed to the football gods that we would win ..........

After witnessing as drab a first half as your likely to see and getting lashed on by the rain shower depite being in the Premiership's newest stadium the defining moment came on the hour. Gerard's pass out left found Riise and he lashed it past Calmity James and although i didn;t know it at the time LFC were going to WIN whilst I was in attendence:wwww

On the way home we were trying to remember the last time we had actualy see them win away from home and the most recent we could come up was the 3-1 away win at Blackburn when Jamie C and Baros sufered broken legs. Turns out it was October 2003 :oops:

But lets not dwell on that , I am now officially LFC's Lucky mascot

6 clean sheets in a row mate, kind of confirms what i was saying last year about the defence being solid and how we'd improve dramatically when we found a keeper with the right level of ability.

Things are looking alot brighter at the moment. Joaquin would make all the difference and give us europes best midfield i believe. Then over the summer, get a striker, centre half, ship out the :censored:

(Josemi, Traore and Sissy) and find a few decent squad players and we'll be laughing.

A win at Sunderland an another clean sheet might just make the league sit up and take notice. We seem to be back in business now and the defence is looking sublime to be honest.

Another point, to all the Sami bashers over the last few years who said he's lost it and can't adapt to a new style of play... get a feckin clue, Banana, where are you lad? Where the feck are ya? :laugh:

Hiya Stu, spot on about Sami mate, he's been immense this season and put in another good performance yesterday.

Got to say that it wasn't pretty yesterday but to be fair to LFC we were the only ones who looked interested in scoring !

Warnock had a good game after shaky start and Finnon was his usual solid reliable and dependable self.

Ironically Riise was harldy seting the game alight before the goal and it was no big surprise to see him replaced not long after his goal but what a Goal it was

Cisse has lost the plot , thats to say he ever had a plot in the first place. Compared with Crouch his input was nil and the arrival of Kewell injected some pace and invention.

What am i talking about , i am just glad we won !!!!

i think this is our second away win is it? perhaps our third this coming wednesday! hyypia is gd throughout the entire match, he aerial dominance is second to none. i can safely say that he is one of the best headers in the premiership. with him around, we can clear out almost all defensive headers. problems come when he is exposed by pacy wingers, that is where carragher is more effective dealing them. however riise might not provide gd cover on the leftside, which many teams will expose us..

Daglish, you must have been sat pretty close to the idiot mouthing off during the silence, if you where in the upper ?

I have to say, the ground looked great all lit up on the way past going home, but considering it was so new, it didnt look up to much.

We went into Mary D's before the game, great ale house.

I must make a point as well of disputing one point with Stu, about Sami.

No doubt he has played wel, but if there is one problem with him (despite the lack of pace which IMO he makes up for with the brain) then it is his distribution. It is awful.

I fear Sami is too old to learn enough about plaaying with the ball at his feet, so if there is an improvement we need to make, it would be to get a ball playing centre half to compliment Carra rather than (as muted on most forums) a fast centre half.

id like to say well played finnan as well, that guy is the quiet defender who deserves a pqt on the back for his work recently

Me is the lucky mascot, been to two aways this season.

Dalglish, how is it like going away with Liverpool? I wanted to know how this stuff works. In our case, we go away with groups of supporters (called "peñas"), each group has a name of a player (old or new) or something like that, and all groups go together to the stadium.

For instance on Sunday I'll go to Santander, that it's only 300 Km away (some do travel 1100 Km away to the other bottom of SPain!) and we get up at 7.am. We take the bus, and are there about 11pm. We drink and drink, and sing and sing, depending of the away crowd we mix with them or we insult each other, and we (the peñas) all go then together to the stadium, 2 hours before the match, as it used to be when the old good stadiums with "stand up" places existed (I've always thought that watching a game sit down is not natural).

Since the eighties we are now scorted by the police. That always is less fun (for instance peaceful pot smokers have to check first if the police that day will care about pot), but it's more safe.

Of course there are lots of details, specific banter songs for each stadium, and all that, but it'd take too much to explain.

I'd love you or any of you would explain how is it like to go away with Liverpool. You seem to have pretty much experience travelling!

Hiya Sabre, traveling away has changed considerably since the 80's when you were treated like something the police and stewards had found on the bottom of their boots

Football has become trendy again since the inception of the Premiership and for that reason Home games often are a reflection of that with people chasing an experience rather than supporting the team. Its not a dig at the day trippers as some will stay and become affirmed supporters which is important for any club to attact a new generation of fans.

Away games tend to attract the more established fan base as to qualify for a ticket you have to have a season ticket and with the loyalty system also have away credits from the previous season. With most away grounds seling approx 2-3,000 tickets to LFC fans it's not uncommon to see the same faces at away games.

I tend to travel in by car with my mate and we try to get in the ground at least 30 minutes before the game although the pre match atmospheres at Premiership grounds are usually spoiled by overenthuiastic PA operators ! :Oo:

If I hear another rendition of the theme from the Omen again i think i'll scream ! :suspect:

What I can say about Away games is that despite the obvious fewer number of LFC fans they almost always stir the place up a bit and make a noise which is more than can be said for Anfield unless we are playing Man Spew or Everton
