I didnt think he was too bad, showed some nice touchs.

To be fair he couldnt influnce the game much with so much of the play going our way.

I still would like to see him in january, very thin chance but hey, there in a relegation battle, and i think read a post by sabre saying something along the lines of his price going down because none of the spanish teams can afford him.

My thoughts exactly and in the prem he would have 3 bruisers around him, kickin ten bags of sh.it out of him.
I think Rafa might have been interested a year ago but now he's tasted the prem I dont think he is what we need, also it would do his game no good either. I suppose this is for another topic though, so go ahead A.B. start one mate  :D

Lynds, someone on TalkLFC has said that [according to his ''sources''] that Benitez does not rate Joaquin at all.

And also theres that Spanish bloke from SSN[forgot his name] that mentioned how Benitez wants a winger who can defend [i.e. Vicente]

Great TEAM performance ,could easily have been 4 or 5 nil .Excellent performance from Crouch but .................when it comes to finishing ,he's still firing blanks . Having said that,Gerrard missed the best chance of the match free and clear with only the keper to beat .

We're a class side.  Don't listen to the papers or any of that media b*ll*c*ks.  They dislike us because we're Liverpool.

We have quality players in most positions.  Not like a year or two back when they were mostly 'first choice' average players and their backups were average and we relied on Gerrard and Owen too much.

Given the circumstances, Benitez has signed well.  We have options in the squad.  Zenden has looked a class signing on a free transfer over the last month.  A couple of teething problems but he's shown some excellent form lately.  Kewell is showing good touches in his cameo appearances.  I'm hoping he'll have an excellent second half of the season.

Not much to complain about tonight, even kept my Number #1 Player I Want At Liverpool Who Plays For Someone Else relatively quiet, Joaquin.

Maybe we could do with a bit of pace up front, even though we have Cisse (who's still to hit his best form for me, even if he is in double figures this season already....), obviously the winger issue is still to be solved, but we are a very hard side to beat.  Hamann is still a major force even in his thirties, and we will know about it when he's not there anymore.  But Benitez has signed Sissoko who will mature into one hell of a player.

A lot to be hopeful about over the next few years I predict.  When Benitez gets to where he wants to be, it's going to be breathtaking.  We've already won the biggest trophy there is to win.  It's magnitude and prestige is up there with the FIFA World Cup.  We are the European Cup holders.  We must all be proud.  I'm ecstatic tonight.  We've qualified for the last sixteen, and we're top of our group with a game to play against Chelsea, where we have everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose.

Some of you may be doubting Jaoquin but  imagine him playing for us ,he did enough tonight to show that he's a superior player stuck in an ordinary team.

We are through, and I feared a goal of Betis. You know, this was much a typical Spanish liga match, I had the same feelings. Betis seems that does nothing, but they may score any time, I was real afraid in the last balls.

Question: Was one of the line men an ugly woman? I can't tell.

What I did like: Some of the not regulars in the starting eleven did well. Hamman, I like him, he's not impressive, but he's a very serious midfielder. Zenden, eeerm, I was one of the mad people that voted for zenden in the Riise vs Zenden poll I while ago (hope I'm not baned now). I think he has done a decent match.

What I didn't like: On first half, we weren't the owners of the midfield, Betis controled it. On second half we did better on that sense. Sissoko? well, I don't want to criticise him as I see some good details, but his positioning makes me doubt.

Crouch? best example of his work is a ball he struggled in the first part, hold the ball, delivered to Gerrard I think, good cross, but Morientes did not finish well. THAT KIND OF WORK IS IMPORTANT. And the goals will come.

The more I see steve Finnan, the more I like him, we don't need anyone on that place.

Morientes? bah, not his best night. Not bad, neither.

Oh and Gerrard, what a glorious chance ! (it was a great save though).

Brilliant stuff there Jonny. I'm delighted as well especially considering that the media and the rest of the tits gave us the ''lucky'' tag.

We're ahead of Chelsea in the group and have been doing, I wonder what b#llshit they will come up with next for us.

i agree woof woof, Gerrard missed the best chance in the 2nd half, he should have scored, but full credit to their keeper he did well to save it.

Joaquin smashed riise!  :sniffle

Wise words from one of the best people on here, nice one John.
I feel the same in everything you said, but what worries me is some of our players need to believe in themselves.
Our more experienced ones are sound Carra, sammi, Hamann (I never want him to leave us), Gerrard.
Maybe its teething problems but some of them lack a bit of confidence, we are world beaters on our day and we can beat all that is put before us.
And when we go to Japan in December we are going to be World Champions, How about that to add to our collection.
p.s. What does that Trophey look like :D

It's funny how we think that Riise kept Joaquin quiet and you think that Joaquin smashed him.......
