The Michael Shields case has left a Merseyside family 'under huge strain' - but not the relatives of the Wavertree teen.
A solicitor for Graham Sankey - the man who's confessed to an attack Michael's been jailed for - has released a statement.
In it he says the 20 year-old from Anfield is facing 'intolerable pressure' from the community to hand himself in.
David Kirwan, Mr Sankey's solicitor, told Radio City he sympathises with the Shields family but any appeals against his 15 year conviction must go through the correct channels.
"The right people to deal with his are the Bulgarian authorities," he said.
"There is a justice system over there, some people do have criticisms of it, but it exists and that's the right way forward."
Kirwan insists he is "very concerned" about Michael's plight and has sympathy for him.
He added: "Graham Sankey is also a person and he is also entitled to rights.
"He hasn't been convicted and hasn't ever been accused of any offence in Bulgaria. He has rights which also need to be respected just as much as Michael Shields."
This was reported on Radio City today and the above is taken from their website, i just wondered what everybodys thoughts and reactions are to this.
