Is it the french connection that is our problem? - Not racist, just an honest question

Yes, the French manager, players and league players are the problem, everything else is fine

3-5-2 might work for the remaining games seeing how riise & finnan are not really comfortable with defending. I can see where you are going with that.

This formation could work for the last few matches given our defensive frailities.

Mexes is quick and class
just the type of defender we need.

The problem is the managment not the players
most of the french players wouldnt be at liverpool if houllier didnt buy them.

p.s. I think 4-4-2 diamond formation.

                        KIRKLAND

                HYYPIA        HENCHOZ
     FINNAN                                CARRA/RIISE

                          HAMANN

     DIOUF                                     KEWELL
                         GERRARD

               BAROS              OWEN

Mexes doesn't strike me as a particuarly quick defender and he certainly doesn't seem up for the physical aspect of the game from what i've seen. Maybe i'm wrong, not seen alot so i could be.

Diamond formations are boll##ks lad. End of.

I remember a while ago we were on a bad run before playing Manchester United away. We were playing a shitty diamond then, come the Man Utd game we went to a flat 4-4-2 and won 1-0.

Flat 4-4-2 is the only way forward. Not all these micky mouse 2-3-1-4's an cr#p like that.

If its not based around a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 its not worth having, end of.

Again, you people are talking rubbish.

I wonder how many of you would be demanding that we get Mexes if the papers hadn't linked us with him? ???

Sadly a lot of public opinion is fuelled by the media, the notion that such and such is a great player or manager. You'll probably find it is second hand information half the time, taken from counterparts in the media in other countries (something like read in l'equipe)

Its not the fact we buy french players thats the problem, its the fact we dont buy proven French talent.
Cisse he's another maybe.
Anelka was a guy who would of been worth his wait in gold had we signed him.
If it came down to it Cisse(might be good) or Anelka(is quality).
I'd take Anelka any day of the week.
If we had got him and played him this season, i'm not saying we would be world beaters. But champions league would of been a realistic target.

i think Pongolle and le Tellec could be good in about 2-3 years.

I wasn't impressed with Anelka at Liverpool, he didn't score many. Have people forgotten his scoring record at Liverpool?

4 goals in 20 league appearances, but he was subbed on SEVEN times and subbed off four times. He has managed 28 goals in 65 league appearances for lowly Man City - that is the yardstick by which we measure him, he wasn't given enough time to settle in at Anfield

Man City = 28 goals in 65 league appearances
Liverpool = 4 goals in 20 league appearances
PSG = 12 goals in 40 league appearances
Real Madrid = 2 goals in 18 league appearances
Arsenal = 23 goals in 66 league appearances

He's not really a goalscorer though. 15-20 a season maybe. But it wasn't the goals, it was just the class he brought to the team.

Newcastle at home when him Heskey and Owen played. Brilliant.

Anelka either scored or had a class game. He was clever on the ball, quick, fairly strong, great skill and wasn't sloppy in possession.

I can see why Houllier didn't take the risk though, thats not something that should be held against him.

He'd rather risk £14m on a player who has never played in a top European league than take the lesser risk of a player who has won the Premiership ???
