Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Booing the anthem is wrong but they were treated with the same respect as we were in Montevideo.
As for the booing the haka, well if its the haka version that now  includes that move of bringing a slashing motion across the throat then it deserves all the hoots it gets

Sorry bud, doesn't wash with me in any way, shape or form whatsoever. If some yobs from around the World choose to interpret an ancient tribal wardance in the way you describe and take offence it says more about their mentality than anything else. Perhaps they are also offended by the Martie Feldman eyes and the pulling the tongue out? Do me a favour.

Besides, can anybody in all seriousness try and convince me that the reason that they have started to disrespect such institutions is because of some percieved "slashing action" included in a dance? Justification of loutish and yobbish behaviour is as bad as the action itself. Sorry to sound like some sort of pompous D!ckhead but I despair when I see standards of decent behaviour being eroded in this way.

Errr i wont comment on what you may sound like mate, but spare me the PC BS about ancient tradition.
The normal and sacred Ka Mate which should be treated with respect was put to one side to use their new one with the throat slitting gesture and if people  boo that new version  they are eroding decent behaviour.........geez classic

its simply wrong to boo others' national anthem!
Harry Kewell looked he's back to fitness and thats the good news though he shouldnt have dived and earned himself a yellow card which is very stupid!

Bigmick is spot on here, and I also agree with laza about the throat-slitting thing with the new haka (Kapa o Pango), I don't like it at all. They've only done that haka once though, the general consensus is that the traditions of Ka Mate should be kept.

As for turning your back on the haka to trivialise it, how :censored: stupid that was. I remember the Australians doing it in Wellington I nbaout 1997 and we beat you by 40 points, how clever it was to disrespect the haka like that.

52299818, Go to South Auckland and say booing the haka is ok, just because Australia discredits the culture of its natives, doesn’t mean you can disrespect ours.
