Taking chances - Why don't we score more ?

How can we have had 26 shots to 6 against Charlton and if you only take shots on target, then it is 16 shots to 3. And not win ??

Any analylitical judgement would say that we create chances and cannot put the ball in the back of the net ? Surely the problem is in our finishing as much as anywhere else. I think our first 8 defeats this season we had more goalscoring opportunities than the opposition in EVERY match.

it comes down to a general lack of ability and confidence. i can't remember the number of times gerrard has blasted shots well off target from distance or heskey has headed straight at the keeper. we also don't get behind defences enough. doing that drags defenders out of position and creates spaces.

having a shot is not neccessarily creating a chance, when you have a team without a creative player, you tend to shoot from 20 yards and hope for the best.

Gerrard and Hamann often just "give it a lash" and hope.
