Harry kewell vs. u r gay - Thoughts about the game

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Theo@home » Wed Nov 16, 2005 11:07 am

Phew!  Just had a walk round the garden to calm my nerves!!!!

The Aussies looked really nervous for the opening 20-25mins and with good reason. The Uruguayans are very technically gifted especially up front and our defenders will have to concentrate for the full 90mins to keep them out.  Getting the goal reasonably early has definately heped though and Guus should be able to calm them down at the break and remind them of how they can play when they want to.  I notice he made a thing in the prerss today about not being afraid of extra time.  I think patience will be the key as hopefully the Uraguayans will suffer from the  long trip and slightly shorter rest.  Would you say that the Aussie guys particularly those form the English teams will be more used to fast paced games and should be fitter?

Pretty boring game so far. Have to say, the ref is favoring Australia with the cards. No denying that. Uruguay have a reputation for playing hard and maybe sometimes dirty, but Australia has been terrible today. Each team should have ten men probably, if things were strict. Viduka and some Australian defender, both fouled Regueiro hard. NOTHING. Regueiro commits a similar foul to an Australian like the one he recieved...bang. Anyway, this game is similar in alot of respects to the Montevideo game. Visiting team dominates first few minutes, home team scores a goal when they really weren't playing that well. Similar time as well. Hopefully, the second half is more exciting...

There is too much at stake to expect this game to be entertaining in the classical sense.
The roughhouse unsettling tactics were always going to be on the cards which just happen to be yellow at the moment

It's complicated to be in the Aussie skin now, what to do? go up and seek the second goal? or being more cautious to avoid the devastating away goal of the south americans? hmmmm :m

Harry is playing like a champ. Australia are completely dominating posession, and have corner after corner, but can't get it to that lump Viduka. CARN AUSSSIIEEEEEEE

Harry is doing brilliantly for Australia. Unfortunately, so is Cahill. Damn Evertonian. They're going to extra time now. Agg 1-1. Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!.

full time no, australia 1 uruguay 0 and 1-1 on aggregate.

australia dominated the first 30mins of the 2nd half with harry kewell pivotal in almost every aussie attack. They sort of sat back for the final 15mins though and allowed the uruguans to come at them, think fatigue is settlling into both teams.

Australia had the better of the 2nd half with kewell looking very threatening, but think he's already used up 90% of this tank now. will be interesting what unfolds in extra time, wun be too surprised if it goes to penalties.

both teams look very tired having played a full match just 3 days ago and took a 15 hour flight after that. Overall australia had the better game and deserved to win the game 1-0. Who will grab the tie and the plane ticket to germany however still remains finely balanced in the air. One thing that will work towards the aussies' favour is that Paolo Montero , the uruguyans captain has limped off injured and his leadership and experience at the back will surely be sorely missed by them.
