These people have no real interest in the club and it would only be a financial deal for them. In America they have to do well with any clubs they may own to keep up the facade of being a succesful business. In England they don't need to do that because the main place they will make their money is the US, so they can afford to let this venture fail because it is not essential to promote their company.
If Liverpool do well, then they will say it is all down to them and if Liverpool got to hell then they can easily play it down.
As long as it is a Company or family or individual that is not reliant on the business it does by owning a piece of Liverpool FC i will never trust them...

but if they are bringing loads of money with them i wont show them the door straight away.....

Nov 2005 Kraft family linked with investment

American billionaire Robert Kraft has refused to rule out investment in Liverpool after a meeting with Anfield chief executive Rick Parry.

Parry held talks in the US with the Krafts, who own New England Patriots NFL team, about a proposed new stadium.

Kraft told BBC Radio Five Live: "Liverpool is a great brand and it's something our family respects a lot.

"We're always interested in opportunities and growing, so you never know what can happen."

Liverpool also refused to totally reject the possibility of future investment, but stressed no deal was imminent.

"I've known them since 2001 and had an invitation to visit the Gillette stadium, one of the USA's few privately-funded stadia," said Parry.

Parry added: "It gave us a chance to discuss the way they funded the ground's construction.

"Being an international break, it was a convenient time to accept the invitation and it proved an interesting trip.

"It was hardly a secret mission. I attended an NFL match with 80,000 spectators."

Liverpool are still intent on moving to a new stadium, but the estimated price of the proposed new Stanley Park development has risen from £80m to £150m, so it is believed the Liverpool board think outside investment is inevitable.

A sponsorship deal means Arsenal's new stadium will be known as the Emirates Stadium, and it is thought Liverpool could be interested in a similar arrangement.

The Kraft Group specialises in paper and packaging, sports and entertainment and venture investment. The Group bought New England Patriots for £98m in 1994 and also owns Major League Soccer team New England Revolution.

Liverpool have been linked with major investment several times, but nothing has come to fruition.

Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shiniwatra offered £60m for a 30% stake in the club, but that failed to develop, and lifelong fan and building magnate Steve Morgan has made several failed bids to up his stake in the club.

Any deal would not mirror Malcolm Glazer's takeover of Manchester United, with chairman David Moores not looking to relinquish his entire 51% shareholding.

Parry will be off on his travels again soon, attending the Soccerex football business convention in Dubai which starts on Sunday.

American tycoon Robert Kraft has admitted investing in Liverpool is a possibility as the Reds seek funding for their proposed new stadium.

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry travelled to the United States last week as a guest of the Kraft family, who own NFL team New England Patriots.

Parry's visit was to observe the match-day operation of the Gillette stadium, although the Kraft family have also been linked with buying a stake in Liverpool.

"All I can say about Liverpool is it's a great brand and it's something our family respects a lot," Kraft told BBC Radio Five Live. "We're happy to have them come visit us.

"We love the sport of soccer and we're always interested in opportunities and growing, so you never know what can happen."

As I've got older I've learnt to live with wannabe scousers supporting the club. I realise that the greatest moment in our history was bringing in an angry Scotsman from Glenbuck who had an honesty and aggression that would forge a truely great tradition but when I read of some friggin hillbilly calling us a "brand" it is time to call the revolution.

Agree wholeheartedly, we are a FOOTBALL CLUB, L F C!!!!

Unfortunately the way football is going today it's probabaly going to take a yank who calls the game soccer, and Liverpool a "brand" to compete.

Hearing your club get called a brand sucks as.ss but it unfortunately epitomises mainstream sport today. I'm all for Morgan buying a little further in to the club but i'm happy with Moores right now and would hope he keeps his controlling stake no matter who they get to invest in the club.

I'd certainly take Kraft over the likes of the Thai PM or some Eastern European orphan with blood on his concience and a gun in his pocket. I've followed the NFL since 1987 (it's my 2nd favourite sport) and Kraft has done a fantastic job with a Patriots organisation (that's what they call their sport teams!) that had been perrenial losers for years. The team have won 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls with a very blue-collar team devoid of any real superstars (except QB Tom Brady) It's easy to say that all the credit should go to the Head-Coach and the players but to build this type of dynasty in the NFL is VERY difficult.

Parry has said that participation in the World Club Championship might attract other suitors. It seems that nothing will happen before the January transfer window. I suppose we've got some money left that we failed to spend in the summer. Also, we're more or less through the group stage of the Champions League. Ker-ching!

he also said by winning the tournament maybe the springboard to winning trophies more regular, just like the good ole days.

Don't know why he doesn't get the whole team standing on the corner of Netherfield Road selling their arrses to any passing soft get. He could always forget about Stanley park and move the whole club to Canal Street in Bootle at least the older players would get a couple of bob from Wayne Rooney.
