Harry kewell vs. u r gay - Thoughts about the game

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

For those who want to know how Harry fared vs. URGay:

Harry looked like the typical player coming back from a huge spell on the sidelines. At times he made all the right moves, holding the ball up for that lump Viduka, working the spaces and getting in between the lines. He played most of his time on the right wing, looking to cut in and shoot with his left. He also was given a free role, roaming between both flanks.

He looked ok, played the full 93 minutes, and came out unscathed. He did look hell tired after the match, his shooting was well average, and his passing was here and there. Some of his passes were done very well, but there were a few times where he gave up possession with poor passes and crosses.

Given the next leg, Australia, even though we played pretty poor, kept the scoreline down, and frustrated the URGayans. Harry has got a huge point to prove for country and club, and hopefully, (wishful thinking) with Viduka out of the squad for the next leg, Harry's free roaming role will prove vital for both country and club.

It's good that Kewell is getting some games under his belt, and hopefully he won't get injured in the next game. Btw, what was the score?

Well at least they have some hope for the next leg. Surprised that they didn't lose by a couple of more goals though.

We really should have. It wasn't a skillful match, or highly entertaining for that matter. It was scrappy, tedious, and the best chances fell to the Socceroos especially in the first 20-25mins. Then URgay upped the tempo and scored from a dubious free kick, curled in by Recoba to the far post, and slotted away by an unmarked defender who should have been picked up by Grella (Parma).
In spite of this, and to keep this topic about Harry's performance, he showed a few glimpses, a few good runs and some great through balls. But mostly, the times when he had plenty of space and time to think, he fluffed. Also his crosses need work, as does his pace. He never really took on the fullbacks. But this will come with more matches and confidence. The second leg in Sydney will be crucial to his confidence and form. And hopefully he can bring it back to us at LFC, so we can sell him in the Jan window, lol.

Kewell is a pr!ck with load of talent but a wee tiny heart who is now going downhill beacuse his heart does not have a single ounce of desire.

Too many of us here are hopeful for him to reproduce his former lustre because we are Liverpool fans and we want the club to do well and he is presently one of the supposedly most talented players we have.

Get rid of him and his inflated 65k a week wages. The problem is that I don't think anyone wants him.

Apart from that, he'd hardly be able to command a decent transfer fee.

I wonder if Atletico Madrid are still interested in him, he was linked with them in the summer and their chairman expressed interested in Kewell.

He's not going to be much kop until he gets a good run of games.
We wouldn't expect any other player to jump back in at the top of their game after suffering Kewell's injuries.
Be fair to the lad.

Even if he plays the full 90 mins in the second leg,and managers to negotiate the airport and flight home without injury. He still has to get through his front door, without hurting himself.

Dead wrong pple. This time i see the light at the end of the tunnel. This current kewell could well be the one that played at Leeds. He's showing good touches, and the most important thing is that he's got that arrogance back. Arrogance is the most impt factor for players like him, henry, cisse and cantona cos it makes them feel they can do anything. that's why rafa continues to treat him like a prince at anfield cos he understands that by putting someone like kewell down you wont get anything out of him.

the kewell this time round will get things rite. too bad he's not a right winger cos we need that most at the moment.

Harry did OK...but only OK. He certainly looked slow at times and some of his crosses were loops into the playing area as opposed to a decisive direct pass. The one thing he did do well was to keep the ball (a valuable asset in a match against a team such as Uruguay). But having said that, I don't think Kewell will start in the Sydney game. I think Hiddink will give him maximum time time to recover and bring him on late in the game maybe as a game breaker...if things are tight. He has the skill to run at players...

I disagree with El Stinger's perceptions re. Viduka. I thought Viduka had a very good game. He was a target and showed for the ball. Archie Thompson (the only non-european playing player in the Aussie squad) was a revelation and a thorn in the Uraguay defence in the first half. He would also prove to be an asset toward the end of the game in Sydney. Aloisi will start beside Viduka in the Sydney leg.

C'mon Aussie!!!!
