What happened to the pre-game huddle?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

It always seemed to settle the fans before a game seeing the players get together like that. Shame, is it?

Theres no huddle because theres nothing to say.
No need for the captain to encourage the players because houllier already does it in the dressing room. And we see how good he is at it by looking at the results.

Its a shame really.

Its indicative of the feeling in the dressing room. So its not just us fans who are feeling pretty down and f##ked off.

Been wondering this meself for a while.

It does certainly have a positive effect when they do this un my opinion.

It should be compulsery, also i'd be p#ssed off with players who show frustration with other players.

Personally if i was the manger these are things i'd get across first and foremost!!!

Somebody mentioned on another thread about the team spirit at sides like B'ham, Charlton etc and its a good point. Team spririt has been a major factor in these sides getting where they are. Looking at our squad on paper we should be light years ahead of teams like that but we're not. OK there's a million and one other factors involved but don't underestimate the power of team spirit, and the huddle (or absence of) is a key sign of that

I agree. To many players (Owen, Kewell, Baros, Hyypia) are all quick to point the finger. They always look frustrated when something doesn't go there way and often don't look at themselves.

Murphy often applauds intended passes which don't come off which is something most of the current squad rarely seem to do.

Also one or two players (Owen, Baros, Kewell) don't play for the good of the team at times, they often waste good opurtunities by wanting to be the hero instead of simply squaring it for the easy tap in.

In my opinion this is one of the reasons Arsenal are as far ahead of us as they are..

Q: You're trapped in a room with a tiger, a rattlesnake, and a Manchester United Fan. You have a gun with two bullets. What should you do?

A: Shoot the United Fan. Twice.

Nope never. It never comes.

With Arsenal it always does.
