Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I fully expect that Nando will go in January as a part exchange deal. There is still talk of part exing him for Joachin, hopefully not Rikki who was subbed after 50 odd minutes on Sunday and never managed a goal in a 5-2 win.
The worrying news that's come out today is that we've again failed to agree terms on a youngster that we could do with, Anderson from Hull. A 17 year old midfielder who won't be hanging about for long and will surely be snapped up by someone else.

Thanks Scottbot, John Bull, who is this Anderson fella? Got any more details on him?

Like most of you, I was gutted we didn't sign Anelka. The Newcastle game sticks out in my mind as a fantastic example why we should have signed him. He was tremendous alongside MO and I believe after Owen leaving he would have revelled in the responsibility. Just look at Man City. Just doesn't sound like a Rafaesque signing unfortunately  :sniffle

Paul Anderson is a 17 year old midfielder who can work the wing position great. The lads I know in Hull rate him as the best prospect they've ever had.
We've offered Welsh in part ex and staged payments.
Hull want more money based on games played/trophies won/caps won. We want to off load Welsh and save a few bob !!!

Pah. I've seen him eventually. Real Sociedad 3-0 Getafe.

He's not worth for Liverpool, although he can be valid for a team like Getafe. He's fast, but his acceleration is low. That pace works well in teams like Getafe. THey get 0-1, they close down, and his pace makes harm in the counterattack. But for teams like Liverpool that are dominating most of the time and opponents are closed, this player is a waste. He has no dribbling, when he tried to move his waist I could hear "crack". He has good shooting with both legs, more because it's a hammer, than because accuracy. He wasted 2 good opportunities. His way of running is peculiar. Somewhat static, didn't like that. My opinion? good for Getafe, waste for Liverpool. What you really need is Nihat.

Even in Spain, he'd never make it to the starting eleven of my team, let alone Liverpool. Morientes has been unlucky, but I've seen him maaaany games and I think you'll eventually like him if he's not sacked before. My first post in this forum was about what good things you could expect from Alonso. That's the kind of Spaniard I like to see: INTERNATIONALS. The exception to this rule is Luis Garcia, which is international only because he plays for Liverpool, which is an irony, right now.

Anyway to be fair, and as stated in a previous post, looks like Liverpool hasn't made an offer for this Riki, so might be press' fault (perhaps Getafe needs money, Liverpool has name and decided to make good propaganda).

Banter Spanish as you like Drummerphil, I'm not  the ultra proud of his country kinda guy :D but let's be fair about Alonso. You all praised him against Anderlecht and Blackburn. And against Fulham, the ones being criticised most were the forwards, and in the Cristal Palace debacle he didn't play, did he?. That would make in the worst case 2 out of 3 good games. :)

We all know the lad is sheer quality but your right that he has not hit top form so far this term. I'm sure his quality will shine through but there have times this season when i  have wondered if we would have been better off with Sissoko's agressiveness in the middle of the park to go with Gerrard.

Excellent suggestion IMO. He's an excellent player, very quick and agile, good dribbler and excellent finisher. Good delivery from set pieces as well.

We could do a lot worse.
