Red, your name is a very honest summary of your longevity as a Liverpool supporter. I note on your profile there is little information entered and wonder how old are you mate?
As for your replies, I have noticed they are very short and equally frequent. We do from time to time get silly people on here who are serial spammers, clogging up the the forum with nonsense. If you are not one of these people, and I'm sure you're not  :talktothehand , then it might be an idea to give your posts a little more time and effort. If you think we have signed too many Spaniards already then explain why for instance. Everybody on here will be very interested in your point of view.

I don't think we are getting this guy. We need EPL type of striker.

I doubt he'd be a good signing, as at 25 I'd have expected to have heard of him by now. Surely we should be looking at 16-19 year old "prospects", NOT MID 20'S.

This link with liverpool will just be another load of boLLoks drempt up by the press 'cos he is a spanird that is doing well and 'cos rafa is going to supposedly be looking for a striker in January. Having not heard any response to this rumour from rafa speaks volumes to me, it's bul!sh!te. I think rafa will look more at the problem of supply before looking at the finishing dept in january.

Article is :censored:. Typical poor journalism, anyone can write like this. The author is suggesting that we'll go for this player because

1. he's a Spaniard
2. Benitez is a Spaniard

How many articles have there been like this over the summer?

striker Riki.

The Reds are reported to be lining up a move for the 25-year-old when the transfer window reopens in January.

Anfield chief Rafa Benitez is keen to bolster his attacking options and he is thought to have made Riki his top target.

Riki has enjoyed a fine season so far with Getafe, helping them into the top three, and Getafe president Angel Torres admits he is aware of interest from Liverpool and other clubs in the player.

"We realise that Liverpool or any big club could want Riki, but nobody has officially spoken to us. I don't know if they have spoken to his agent," Torres told Marca.

"I have to say that not Liverpool nor anyone are going to get him for €4 million (£2.73 million) - they have to pay his buy-out clause.

"He is an adaptable striker who is in the news and it would be a shame for us to lose him, but it's obvious that if someone pays his buy-out clause and he wants to go then there is nothing we can do about it.

"I am not surprised Liverpool may want him because he is in incredible form at the moment. Liverpool have scouts here and all over the place

To be honest, the rumour seems quite serious, since his coach said "we cannot do much if Liverpool comes and pays the fee" with resignation.

Anyway I'm surprised. I watch regularly primera division, I follow it but I have not heard of Riki until this season. Well he's not bad, but he isn't even considered to be selected for the Spanish Squad, when a player shines, people request the player to be in the national squad. This is not the case certainly. Morientes has, so if you expect a better player ... bloody hell :D  :D

In Anoeta he hasn't shined, and in the wekly highlights hasn't been mentioned until this year, it certainly seems few merits to join a great team such as Liverpool. TBH I haven't seen playing thoroughly (watching 90 mins, his movements, controls) so I'll track him closer in order to have a better opinion.

Anyway I think we need more a winger and a defender. I still rely on Morientes, although I know he's been awful so far and failed two glorious chances against  Blackburn. If Liverpool needed a striker, I'd stick to NIhat. He's in his last year, no fee should be paid for next season, and he's the kind of world class player Liverpool needs. I'd be so happy if he came to Liverpool instead of the treacherous Valencia grasps...

I'll watch him and keep you posted, but first thought, thumbs down.

In fairness Wrighty, Sabre is Spanish, based in Spain and very knowledgeable. I'd actually be more inclined to take his analysis at face value than that of some divvie reporter.

Dont really like the sound of all this, we would have to pay 4 million buy out clause, then how much extra would he cost? Plus wages, for a 25 year old unknown, this is the same mistake our club has been making for years.
We need to buy quality and for quality you have to pay the price, if we are going to buy another striker then it has to be Dirk Kuijt, works his bloody socks off does the lad, watched him again yesterday in a 4-1 romp over FC Groningen, they are undefeated this season, would'nt mind Kalou and Ghaly either, they are 3 great players.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
