Cisse,morro and crouch - Couldn't hit a barn door!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Its all well and good wanting Dirk Kuijt to come and play for us, but for one if he does sign for us, he wont until after the WC, and for 2 his best position is as a striker, he plays on the wing for Holland and it is not his best position, and I feel if he did come to Liverpool he would be stuck on the wing more than upfront.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Come on .... As long we got 3 points, I'm happy for now . I think now Rafa did learn something new on our last match.
1.4-4-2 is good for home games.
2. Cisse , morro and crouch. They all can pair each other , what they need is the service from the midfield .
3. There no problem between him and cisse ... just look at them after cisse score a goal

I'm not on your backs or liverpools backs, all i'm doing is pointing out the problems with this team. Yes we got three points but come on this was a real poor performance, against a team that had come for a point. This meant we had to take the game by the horns and attack, lets not forget we were at home and the empysis is on us, we got out of jail as 0-0 was wrote all over this bore game. Other teams will do the same come to anfield and get players behind the ball and its up to us to break them down. We need to be more clinical and more attack minded but somehow its not happening, for whatever reason not enough quality is my choice, and not wanting to concede at the other end. Recipe for success don't think so.

Everyone is entitled to there opinion , but I do feel you are being a little hard on Cisse Welsh. Cisse for me hasnt been given the chance to prove how good he is , he will have gained confidence from yesterdays performance ,and that can only be a good thing.Play him alongside someone upfront and we will get much more out of him i feel.

It's harsh to criticise the team's performance after yesterday, we got the points which was the most important thing given the circumstances.

As for the strikers we have, I have to say that I can see why some people have concerns about them.

Crouch is a good player, the criticism he got this week was totally unjustified.  He will create a lot of chances for others this season, but I honestly can't see him scoring many by himself.  He MUST play in a front 2 for us to get the best out of him, he's not mobile enough for a lone striker.  Someone needs to play off him to get his knock-ons and flicks.

Cisse is a talented, talented player.  Pace to burn, a great physique and a good shot (as we saw yesterday).  His problems are in his head if you ask me, he's far too temperamental.  He seems quite insecure, he needs a manager who puts his arm around him and tells him how good he is all the time, but I can't see Benitez doing this.  His laziness is a major issue I feel.  He got his big chance to start up front yesterday and despite the goal, he still didn't put in enough work.  That said, I'm happy he started yesterday because I think Crouch and Cisse is our best bet for a good partnership, we have to work with what we have until January so those 2 would get the nod for me.  But Benitez won't change his mind about Cisse after one goal, he'll still be replaced in January I think.

As for Morientes, I don't really know what to think, nothing has gone his way since he signed with injuries etc.  His performances have generally been good since we bought him - good link play and workrate etc - but he just can't find the net.  If you ask me he's going through a transitional period in terms of his own game.  He's lost the crucial yard of pace and he's trying to change his game to compensate for this.  Players like Shearer and Bergkamp successfully made this transition in the past, lets hope Morientes can do the same.

The problem is though, these two went through transitional periods in a league they had been playing for most their career.

Morientes is clearly out of form, while still adapting to the lifestyle changes and the differences of English football. Were he playing in Spain, I'd be pretty sure he'd get back to form, but will he ever reprodcue his glorious days at Madrid at Monaco with us? I'm not too sure.

I'm not doubting his ability, as he is a quality player, in fact he is the most talented striker we have in terms of technical ability, but I'm unsure whether he'll ever be a major success for us. Perhaps if we can sign some quality wide players he will become a major asset.

the reason why cisse needs an arm over his shoulder....  :D

ROUX BLASTS RAFA

Guy Roux, the Auxerre boss for 43 years until recently, and Djibril Cisse's mentor and father figure has revealed the unhappiness of Djibril Cisse these past few weeks.

Roux revealed: "I have had Djibril on the phone a lot in recent weeks.

"He is not in a good way but I have told him not to get annoyed and wound up.

"Of course he isn't happy, but I have tried to convince him there are better days ahead — although maybe not under Benitez."

Cisse's father walked out when he was just two years old, leaving his mother to cope on her own. Roux became to the Frenchman — and now he finds himself trying to stop Cisse from caving in.

He said: "It is not hard to see why Djibril is confused. The manager has made some strange decisions.

"When I look at the squad, it seems to be very weak and I think they are in for a tough season.

"But Djibril has the qualities necessary to succeed and I've told him to be patient.

"Who knows what will happen — especially if Liverpool are 14th at Christmas."

Roux said: "When I watch Liverpool, I find it hard to understand what's going on.

"They're playing a big guy up front, who looks like he would take at least 14 seconds to run 100metres — whereas with Djibril you've got one of the fastest players in the world.

"It's difficult to work it out, especially when Peter Crouch is hardly banging in the goals.

"Why does Benitez play Cisse wide on the right? That isn't the way to get the best out of him, and I should know.

"I don't know whether he will have to leave, I hope not, but it's a tough call for him."

I'd go along with that mate.

The combination of losing a yard and moving to a faster-paced league than you've ever been used to is a pretty bad combination

Like yourself I don't doubt the guy's quality, but I'm not 100% convinced he'll settle in the premiership.  It would however be silly to write him off in January, he has to be kept for the whole season.  If by then he's still struggling then he should maybe consider going to a slower league like Spain, France or even Italy, where his technical ability would make him an effective player there.

Fingers crossed Morientes comes good though, we could really do with one of our strikers hitting a real purple patch in front of goal right now.

Yeah we have to work with what we have until january, cisse will score a few goals but i'm afraid rafa i feel has seen this big ego, that he doesn't like similar in a way with diouf, they are very similar in there attitudes. Thats why rafa wants him out i feel. Morientes has lost that something he is or was a class player but i feel he won't be the same as he once was at madrid or monaco. I hope he proves me wrong but i just can't see it, then there is crouch i do believe he needs a goal and would be the one to benefit the most and go on a good run of scoring when he gets one but Cisse and morientes have until january to turn in some hot performances and with them goals because thats what forwards are remembered for the goals they score and the quantity, Time is running out for them.
