Yeah any game where at half time you are left with an over-riding feeling of "jeez I wish I'd brought me boots" is best avoided in my view. It's OK when you're about 9, because the Scarborough centre-half is better than even the best player at your school. When you get to 14 though and your both five years older leaving you with the distinct but ultimately unrealistic feeling that you could skin him on the outside yourself, it's probably time to move on.

I think the best solution is FIFA should control all the top 5 clubs in their league in buying new players. exp. EPL
1st : Chelshit as for the champion , they can't spend a single cent, unless they sell first, then they can buy with the same amount that they spend.
2nd :Arsenal . Limit to spend max at 10m
3rd : Man UTD . Limit to spend max at 15m
4th : Everton . Limit to spend max at 20m
5th : Liverpool. . Limit to spend max at 25m

blatter got the point which is a good wake up call
but don't be over pessimistic, remember that investment doesn't correlate linearly with the outcome
i mean you can't expect a cow to produce a hundred gallons of milk a day no matter how much grass you feed him
peter kenyon once said about 6 months ago that (with corresponding buying pattern) chelsea needs too consistently collect cups within 5 years to get their invested money back.
we all know that the sum of prospective money to colect from CL and EPL has already been certain
abra needs to plan carefully to spend his money or else his investment will only be returned within 15 years

Great to see Blatter going on record to say this!!
And i always thought these overpaid toffs never really gave a fu.ck about grass roots football and the working class supporter or domination by monetary advantage!
In fact i just thought their main priority and agenda was to pick up a huge bulging wage packet every month and justify their job by doing as little as they can get away with!
After reading that i feel no different, after all its only words!
Time will tell i guess! Great that hes made the 1st step by acknowledging a problem but we are a long way off from any action being taken!

beware of salary caps -- they aren't good for the fan. i used to be a rabid nfl fan and now forget it -- you lose all your old favs cos they cost too much and get new guys every year. all the teams employ cap specialists who are just accountants -- now name me  all the good qb's -- most are old --can't develope one since they cost too much -- tom brady was a middle draft choice -- football blows

the good proposal came from the group of 13 -- the use a percentage of your turnover to set the cap. this way nobody cheats and good teams with good fans get to spend more. you will still have good teams and lousy ones not just all lousy. trust me you still want your dynasty teams. it just wouldn't be the same if united sucked as bad as villa-- really how can they be hated when they are awfull -- the fun is gone when on any given sunday any team can win -- just think of villa winning the prem

Fifa have to sort something out, otherwise they'll be out of a job soon.

There have been talk of tycoons buying West Ham and Villa. There was even talk of us being bought by tycoons?

What would people think if there was another Abramovich in England? Would it make matters better or worse?

It would make matters worse. It's bad enough having one super power in the transfer market, but with two trying to outbid each other over every player it would be insane and impossible for the smaller clubs. The premiership might become a two club league like the SPL for a long time.

FIFA won't do anything - Blatter, as we all know well, is a total w@nker, and just because he's said what a lot of people are saying at the moment doesn't make it any more likely. Salary cap - forget it - Chelsea have already shown us they don't mind bending rules as far as they will go. You can bet Abramovich's last rouble that they would find clever ways of getting roung it. Even that doesn't mean anything, because football is run by money, so nothing will change while the big clubs are still raking it in. If the public, demand did ever drop however, and say Sky offer 10% of the last fee they paid, then everything will change overnight. We dominated the league in the 70's & 80's, and Manure have taken over since (god that hurts to say). Now its Chelsea's turn. The fact that they are a bunch of chav market stall holders makes it a bit distasteful, but it will still come to an end soon enough.
