It's not a case of being an attacking side or a defensive side. We have to be able to do both when necessary. The difference between us and other top sides not just in England, but in Europe is that they can do both. Milan epitomise that as do Arsenal. They can shut teams out and they can punish sides which is just something we can't do. LFC under Houllier play one way only and never have a back-up plan which is why we can't chase games. It used to be said that LFC were never more dangerous than when they're a goal down. Nowadays we just don't have an array of quality players who can adapt to various systems of play throughout a given 90 minutes.

Zackboxer you are confusing personel with tactics. End of story.

If Liverpool had Kewell instead of Smicer the season we collected 80 points we'd have won the league. We had no-one to exploit the width we created and no true dribblers in the side.

The fact of the matter is you can play a defensive style and win every trophie on the face of the earth as long as yyou are playing to your strengths.

So stop talking bulshit about needing to play certain systems to gain success. The only system you need to play is the one your players are best suited to.

What if our strengths are pushing up in attack do we play a defensive style ? which would not be playing to our strengths but Stu the Red has said that you can win every trophy blah blah blah ...........

Stu, what you're saying is that our strengths are as a defensive counter attacking team and that we could have won everything with that style? I don't agree but that's just a matter of differing opinions.

However, how can you be such a big fan of GH when according to you he shouldn't have changed the way we played and for the last two years he has been playing the wrong tactics for the players he has then ??
That makes no bloody sense at all!!!!

Again guys, were all on this forum for one reason, our love for Liverpool football club.

Put the claws away and accept that people have different opinions. This forum would be nothing but a web site if it wasnt so.
