OVER AND OUT, DIDI
By Alan Nixon
DIDI HAMANN has quit the German national side - to try to keep his place in the Liverpool team.
Midfield veteran Hamann was overlooked by Jurgen Klinsmann for his latest squad in the build-up to hosting the World Cup finals.
And Hamann has decided to call an end to his international career and 'concentrate totally' on his Kop future.
Hamann, who won 57 caps, had been back in the German plans recently but was slammed for his show in a pre-season friendly when he was regaining his fitness.
Klinsmann axed him after that game and Hamman has reluctantly announced his retirement.
You really have to love Didi for doing this, putting Liverpool before his country as he's not getting any younger and knows he wont be able to do the two, escpecially smoking 20 cigs a day
