i can see why rafa plasy tactics he's playing..but for it to work he needs to buy a natural wingers, who can beat players and deliver quality crosses for crouch but until we buy a quality right winger..4-4-2 diamond could be a possibilty....if u play hamaan or sissoko(holdin role),then alonso, gerrard, sissoko, zenden in the middle and the attackin player could be garcia, pongolle, gerrard
with crouch and ciise up-front

Lets play people in their best positions. See if that works. Weve no wide men, the ones we have are rubbish, so why play a system that requires something you havent got. I reckon a 4-3-3 suits this squad right now and would go there, especially at home. Lets try and win some matches.

                               reina
  finnan      hyppia                  garragher        riise

                            sissoko
               gerrard                     alonso

                              garcia

                   crouch             morientes

You can argue who you pick in the positions, but the formation suits the personnel. No forwards as wingers and all that malarkey.

That looks alright, if a little thin on the flanks.  You could call that a diamond 4-4-2 rather than a 4-3-3, for what it's worth.

Who is the new CB.. is he one of the Oasis brothers??  LOL
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

I agree that Gerrard might as well be used on the right until January. We all know that his best position is centre midfield. however, as rightly pointed out, it would be for the good of the team if Gerrard is going to play in this position providing we are playing 4-4-2.

That formation that i think parchpea used looks pretty good but I would swap sissoko around with Alonso. This would allow Alonso a bit more time on the ball to let him dictate the play in a quarter-back role so-to-speak. In doing this, it will allow Gerrard and sissoko to make runs and slide some through balls in to Garcia or Cisse. Alternatively, if we want to cross, we know who will be on the end of them for the knock down.

I reckon this formation will work a treat as it allows for both a plan 'a' and most importantly a plan 'b' at the same time.

I know there has been a lot of stick over garcia recently and rightly so. However, I am a strong believer in a side playing to it's strengths and at the moment, we are simply not doing that at the moment and Garcia's current position is a perfect example of that. Play him in the hole and see what he can do. Perhaps we will see him scoring more goals like he did against Chelsea and Everton.

Oh yeah, one other thing. I would rather play Warnock at left-back and not Riise.

Id go for 3-5-2 at the minute. We'd still have the strong midfield, but would also have an extra attacker. (If it works vs AC, then sh*tty prem sides such as Evertonne shouldnt be a problem).

                                                   Reina

                                   Josemi          JC         Sami
Finnan                                                                                          Riise
                                                  Sissoko
                                  Gerrard                       Alonso

                                             Garcia/Pongolle
                                                           Crouch.
(Might replace Josemi with either Whitbred or Bambi).(Riise gets the nod as he's top drawer as a wingback).
Failing that, I'd try;

                                                      Reina
                       Finnan               JC               Sami              Warnock

                                                      Alonso
             Pongolle                                                                    Kewell/Garcia

                                                      Gerrard
                                       Garcia/Cisse
                                                           Crouch.
