Ok, first and foremost i am in absolute shock that people here are calling for Rafa's head. That's totally uncalled for. One bad game and all knives are out, you bunch (you know who you are) can't be geniune supporters. Go support some other teams you fair-weathered fans.
4-5-1 proved to be a success a few days back, Chelsea looked scared to say the least. So it makes perfect sense to put out the same team (almost) again. Put your hand to your heart and say whether you would risk putting out a different formation.
Why things didn't work out today wasn't totally Rafa's fault but the players didn't play according to plan, or simply wasn't able to. Look, would you have thought that Traore would commit such a foul? It almost looked like he did it on purpose. Nowhere near the ball and takes away both of Drogba's legs. Drogba was sent writhing on the floor and notice the replays, he looked at the referee as he was rolling on the ground. I wouldn't blame Drogba though, cos i know every Pool player would have also gone down looking for a penalty with such a stupid tackle.
This defeat should be nothing out of the unexpected if we realize it. See, we knew all along that Traore is not cut out for football at this level. Similarly, we all knew that Hypia is getting slower and slower. Hypia was left standing by Drogba and played Joe Cole onside. Also, we knew that Reina could not be counted on to make anything other than textbook saves. He had a good chance to stop Drogba for one of the goals but he simply couldn't. Furthermore, we all know that Garcia is the point at which we often lose our attacking impetutus and possession. So what's new?
You guys blame Rafa, but who else could he have brought on? Cisse? No, he's not anything special. Sissoko? I think Hamann had a good reason to be included after Wed's game. So who else? Warnock for Traore - yes I would agree to that though.
For those who thought that Crouch played poorly, I must say that he gave you guys the typical performance which you guys have been raving about for weeks. Yet the double standards of you guys decided that when the result's not good, then he must be playing shi.t. But he played largely the same way as he has been for the past few games. He actually even managed to convince me that despite his height, he is one of the better controllers of the ball with his touches.
That said, Crouch is of cos not the perfect striker. He's like a robin to a batman, he needs someone to finish off what he provides. He has yet to head anything on target so far too. But his lay-offs has been good and he's been giving us more time in attack simply by not losing possession easily.
This is a weird game. I feel that our players did not play particularly poorly, and were absolutely committed. The reason for defeat, as much as i would hate to admit it, is that the opposition's of a better grade than us, simple as that. Chelski were far more organized in defence and attack. While our defence uncharacteristically collasped, our attack characteristically had no ideas.
nevertheless, this game has made me hate more people. First on my list - Frank Lampard. The audacity of him to 'shush' the kop. on my god. that really made me blood boil.the arrogance of that @*#(@! secondly - andy gray - he nvr had any good words for pool. any 50-50 decisions are supposed to go in chelski's favor, and anything bad (bad tackles etc) we do, he makes it sound as if we are criminals. Anything chelsea does well, he magnifies it by 10. when are they going to realize that he shouldn't be commenting on our games?
anyway, the one thing rafa did wrong was to brag in midweek. about how we know how to beat chelsea and all. it kinda made us feel superior, and that chelsea was supposed to be afraid of us. had we kept that underdog mentality, maybe we would have performed better.
lastly, as a lot of you had said, though you lot have been defeated, but YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE REDMEN!!
