Liverpool 4 blackburn 0 - 4 goals in a league game!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I can see by the nature of previous posts that whilst a lot of us are grateful for the win, we are non too convinced about the next couple of games. Is that not indicative of our season thus far? We still can't get too excited about a (good) win, 4-0 is no fluke. Feet firmly on the floor boys, we don't do this often enough to be considered the finished article. Still a few players to move on and a few more to bring in before we can be close to those others. But if it continues like this, I for one will not be complaining!

woot, impressive most impressive....

our upcoming fixtures are looking most enticing, don't get carried away, a few of them will be alot harder than today, we could conceivably lose every game from here on in!! lol sorry, dont want to scare anyone.
Football is a simple game, all you have to do is pass the ball to a player in a red shirt.

You're all saying how ew need to judge against Arsenal away to see if we've improved.

We don't Not many teams are going to take a point off Arsenal home or away this season. Its a hard game to know how to play, to you try an hit them on the break and let them pin you back or do you attack them and press them leaving you open to there counter attacking speed and movement?

Which way do you go?

To be honest any points gained in this game and united away are a bonus. If we lose there is no disgrace and doesn't mean we've gone backwards after recent good results at the end of the day, they are unbeaten for a reason, we are 4th for a reason, so if they win lets not al jump on the managers back ay.

Its a fair enough point that Dalglish and Dr Liverpool are making about Biscan and Traore.

Both of these players did ok against Leicester, and Biscan did ok yesterday against Blackburn, and he played well (at times) against Portsmouth at Anfield recently.

Its a true point that these players are not quite as bad as some make out, but we can't go too far in the other direction in praising them either.

Biscan has cost us dearly at times this season, and Troare last year, and they don't have to have a stinker every match to be a long term liability.

I think we will get a result at Arsenal, I really do. I have put a bet on with some of my mates that we won't lose at Highbury. Arsenal are due a defeat, and I think we are meeting them at the right time, with nerves and fatigue getting the better of them, whereas we'll have (or at least should have) a full strength side thats beginning to get into its stride.

However, if we beat Arsenal at Highbury it won't automatically mean we have turned a corner and that we will march on to bigger and better things. I just feel that the timing is right for a good result, just as it was against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and I think there are still deep rooted problems, and personally I'm more afraid of a slip up on the last day or a sloppy performance against Birmingham or Charlton than I am of the Highbury visit.

I love it if we ended Arsenal's unbeaten run. Though at the end, I'd prefer it if Arsenal won the league. Better than Chelski or W*nkchester United taking it.

I actually have waged that liverpool will beat arsenal 1-0 with my mates (Hamann to score the winner). If liverpool can keep henry quiet, arsenal are there for the taking.

And yes, have to agree with dude granny, even if we beat arsenal, does not mean we have turned the corner.......

Fair enough we played well, but it was only Blackburn. The defence was never likely to be troubled by a strike force of Gallacher and Stead, and Blackburn's defence has hardly been solid this season (we've scored 11 goals against them this season)

Good result but let's not get carried away with it.

To be honest with you I'd prefer a run in involving Arsenal, Man U and Newcastle to a run in involving teams lower down the table because at least then I can be pretty confident that the players will be fires up and willing to put in what it takes. Thats the problem with Houlliers style of management (amongst other things of course), he doesn't appear capable of getting his team ready for the smaller teams

Most of dudes here are thinking the same. Once bitten, twice shy.

Can't blame them though, look at how many times we turned the corner this season (turning 4 corners will bring u to square 1).

I watched the game against Blackburn with mixed emotions really.
Very pleased with the result, even if it was against a poor Blackburn team. But you can only beat what is in front of you and Liverpool did the business.
It raises questions as to why on earth we have only played like that for a few hours this season.
We don't need another false dawn - but I actually fancy the lads to nick a win at Arsenal.
It's a shame that we all don't feel totally confident - but it is a reflection of this roller coaster ride that we have been on for the past two years.
The season is 38 games long - not 8 and we need to play like we did on Sunday for about 30 of those games not just one or two.
Anyway - well done lads you finally gave me something to get excited about.
Don't mess it up eh!

Totally agree oldredeyes :D
If anything I was surprised . Expected Blackburn to make it far harder for us as they a fighting to stay out of the premier trapdoor. At this time of the season the bottom clubs are usually scrappin' for everything including the half time orange :D
And yeah it wouldn't surprise me if we nicked a win at Arsenal. You never know what this team of ours will do next..........problem is, neither does Foolier.

Souness said: "We have to admit that we were totally bashed up by a team who played very well on the day. The plan was to try and frustrate them and keep it tight - but it was game over after 10 minutes and there was no plan B.

They are always under pressure at Anfield to go at teams and we had a game plan to keep it tight and work on the fact that they do get nervous on their own pitch.

"But Liverpool were excellent, and frankly none of the reports we have had on them have indicated that they have played like that before. In fact 4-0 did not flatter them. We have played all the top teams and none of the others have done that to us.

Mentions the pressure the fans put the team under, also states none of the other teams have "bashed them up" like that this season.

Praise for a good performance. Finally a bit of respect the performance deserved.

Glad i ain't the only one even if he is a bit of a t#s#er at times.
