Here i was in the signal box working dutifly thru the night as do we all who work on the railway ( coff ) , tackling difficult questions such as what route to set for a freight train , should i have have Tetleys or Brookbond and if Tetleys would i be better off eating bourbons or chocolate chip cookies .
During a tea break ( meaning when i wasnt actually drinking tea ) i was looking on the net as i usually do on night shift in the Signal box looking for any latest news on our beloved team when i came across several "news reports" that made me realise that the silly season has well and truly arrived .
first report .........from Talking Soccer .com
Liverpool are being linked with Betis star Joaquin. A representative of the player was invited to watch the Champions League match between Liverpool and Chelsea earlier in the week. It is understoon that talks would have been commencing as the game went on.
The player has also been linked with Chelsea but Liverpool are willing to splash the cash on that one player who will make all the difference.

Liverpool - Parry reveals transfer plan
30 Sep 2005 12:06
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has admitted the club could well renew their interest in Benfica winger Simao when the transfer window reopens in January.
The European champions saw a deadline day deal for the Portuguese international collapse, but Parry says there is a strong possiblity that a further approach will be made for him at the turn of the year.
Benfica pulled out of the sale at the last minute due to protest from the club's fans, and if they are still reluctant to do business, Liverpool could turn their attention to Spanish international star Joaquin.
The Real Betis ace has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, and could prove an excellent alternative to Simao.
third report ........from Touchline Football
Rick Parry has admitted that Liverpool are likely to sign Benfica star Simao Sabrosa
"He is a great player and we need more like him," Parry told O Jogo.
"I did not see the Manchester United - Benfica game, but I heard about his great goal and excellent performance.
"Simao is confirming that he is a great player."
"We have still not definitively decided, but it is an interesting option for us.
"We need a player with his characteristics.
"I don't know if Benfica are willing to let him go, but we can talk."
It seems like i said that the silly season has arrived , what with an earlier thread already started about Kuijt joining in the next transfer window i think it maybe time to start another official rumour thread for obvious reasons , not least of all stories of players reportedly joining Liverpool clogging up the board .............any thoughts on this ?
