Yes JP may walk into our team but nobody can complain about the creative of the team today as we created an abundance of chances and also clear clut ones at that. We had about 3 or 4 times the amount of shots brum had. The problem today was lack of a finisher really.

well look at it this way...what if pennant crossed a few balls to crouch in the 1st half...we might have been leading going into half-time.

We only put in 1 quality ball from the right..and that was cisse in the 80th minute or something.

I agree with those who were very very disappointed with that performance. We ended up scrambling for a draw against a poor Birmingham team when with the right attitude from the outset the game would've been over at half-time. Easy away wins are rare in the Premiership but that was potentially one. They had a kid on debut in central midfield and Forssell was clearly not 100%.
I really believe if we'd imposed ourselves from the outset then Brum would have settled into a damage limitation exercise. Very poor. One of last seasons top three would probably have won that 3 or 4 nil. I am thoroughly depressed by the whole thing to be perfectly honest.

But its true, half of you lot are on a rollercoster. Were building a team for the future like what Arsenal and ManUtd did .And they didnt do it in one season. Yes we are the Champions of Europe but that means :censored: all in the premiership.

Its September and this finishes in June. Thats a long way away guys so dont start with the paniucking yet.

It's true, and Rafa certainly seemed to try his utmost to get someone in over the summer, but our current need for a dedicated right sided player is clear.

Totally gutted!
Just home after watching the match. What can you say?its hard  to find  anything positive!
As long as we keep playing  4-5-1  we will be  cr@p!
Not looking forward to Wednesday night atal now after watching that!
We seriously lack passion and a will to win!
Gutted! :no

Rafa has been promised money to spend in Jan and im sure hell buy at least a winger. We created chances today, our finishing was not all there. Just an off day thats all.

It's not a panic statement Bav to say that we were needlessly over cautious and almost lost a game we should have won comfortably. As far as the rollercoaster analogy is concerned, if we are on one there must be a power cut because it hasn't got started yet.
I said before the game that it was a crucial fixture because the result here would reflect on our previous performances. Win and our start looks OK, lose or draw and suddently 7 points from 5 games, with Chelsea up next looks quite ordinary. Though I think you make a fair point when you talk of building a team for the future, I just feel our work in progress was certainly good enough to take care of Birminghams depleted outfit today.
It's the first time I've said this but I think Rafa got it wrong today. Not brave enough for me.

Listen up dudes..even if we buy joaquin and duff as our RW & LW...they won't make any impact if we continue to play cautious against mediore opponents......

I mean, if pongolle & zenden were allowed to go at birmingham we could have beaten them (....maybe not zenden).

It is not the players...it is the way we set-out to play....we created how many chances from 85th to 93rd min ?

and how many chances we created form 1st to 84th minute...that says the whole picture....

Yup theres isnt much support at all, players are not running to create spaces. The only person doing the running is Gerrard. Our left and right backs are not doing overlapping runs, this is even made worse with our winger Zenden who isnt doing much.

if we displayed the same effort in those previous 84 minutes we would have walked away 3 pts better off. there would have been no need for any of this, but as it stands most of us are scared to death of playing that way against chelsea. it cant happen, we must get at them straight off..like juventus at home.. otherwise they'll be laughing their heads off

I think one thing we can all agree on is the fact that Zenden is not working out well for us. Hes blocking out Riise who is one of our most influential players.
