A decent centre mid a few years back but a poor centre half, he's not the answer to our problems. Plus I would never deal with Madrid again, how many times do they have to screw us before we realise it's a bad idea?

As for Chivu, I think he's quality, but he'll not come yet while Sami is clearly not finished. He'd only come if he was playing every week I reckon, and I think he would most likely be rotated with Sami at the moment. Maybe next season though

My thoughts with better english.

I do think that he'd do better than Hyppia, for instance, but what he can provide right now do not weight so much as this facts:

a) his yearly economic demands
b) the fact that he's awesome recovering balls and in the defence-midfield transition, but he wouldn't feel comfortable with headers, and doesn't have the positioning of a real defence.
c)Adaptation to a new language and a country of a man that's none the brightest. Look at his face in a photo of another team celebrating a goal, he loses it.

You may just get your wish St, Rafa has flown into the North of Italy today and will fly back tomorrow afternoon. A trip of a little over 1 day. He has flown by himself. Udinese is mentioned in his travel plans. Napoli could also be involved.
Roma play Palma tonight 20.30 kick off.

Helguera used to be a decent midfielder but is no defender.

the reason i started this thread was because i couldn't believe that a report had claimed that we were "interested" in the first place. no doubt the fact that he's spanish had something to do with it.

i agree with jbg. helguera is a centre midfielder playing at centre back. it just doesn't work (see biscan).

chivu is the man we need. :buttrock
