Was everyone watching the same game as me ?
Joaquin first half didn't get involved enough....but that looked like it was because we were in total control.
Second half he was different class, we tried to double up on him and still he caught us out about 3 times.
If that his him carrying a knock then he must be awesome fully fit.
He took Ashley Cole the cleaners in the Spain friendly as well, and is someone who i would definately pay 20 million for.
Xisco was also really good when he came on...but he was up against Josemi who dives in a bit too much for my liking.

same here i must have been watching a different game because in the 2nd half i thought he was class and he was injured!! he made traore riise and some times hyypia look silly at times, i have seen him play a bit in la liga for a few seasons he is a little bit greedy but he hogs the touchline and we need wingers that provide us width and not chumps like zenden that come in field and therefore make the blance of the team very narrow. Next season i would love to see both gonzales and joaquin on the wings! Then your talking bout the best midfield in the world if all the reviews are true about gonzales.
Another point get rid of josemi and zenden!! no way are they good enuff to wear the red jersey

Would he be able to handle the physicality of the Premiership?

Defo how physical can a game get if no one can get near you!!!, second half i was terrifyied everytime he got the ball people who say he was sh!te are having a fu*king laugh, people have even said we dont need him, FFS 2 weeks ago we was kicking off for failing to get Simao and now cos we beat betis some think we dont need him, its a joke on here at times, Joaquins class end of and people who says he went down easily, when your playing against a ref who you know will blow as soon as you go down you know you can buy a free kick easily, The ref played the biggest part in the diving last night, the game needed a stronger one.

If we get Joaquin he will be hailed as one of are greatest ever buys. He will bring somehting i doubt many of us will have seen from the terraces of Anfield in a red shirt.

I dont think it will be £20M, i think he's buy out clause is like £40M, so i would imagine that betis wouldnt let him go for too much less.

IMO he is stronger then alot of the wingers in the Premership, surely stoner the Ronaldo, Robben and SWP.

I wouldnt get my hopes up on signing him, espically this January.

But who knows footballs a funny old game isnt it.  :D

We aren't going to sign him, he's worth too much money and Benitez isn't going to break the bank for anyone.

EXACTLY.

Plus, of course Joaquín could handle the physicality of the premiership, I can't think of many Premiership players that are stronger, more athletic or better built.

He is a human BULL!! bloody athletic and super skilful too.

He is JUST what we need on the right wing.

joaquin has a buy out clause of 40 million euros about £26m
wish we could afford that.

Sami is not the player he was last season, and other previous seasons.  He seems to have gotten even slower, being caught out regularly by his lack of pace.  Don't get me wrong, he is still an excellent tackler/stopper.  But when he is caught out of position, or has to move to cover, he hasn't the speed to do it.

I'm used to read "will he fit to EPL physicality?" and I just wonder if that's not an stereotype.

Meaning, that IMHO english football is much more modern than it used to be. Luis Garcia is certainly a player who hasn't great strenght, even for Spanish standards, and yet, he's doing well.

I don't think that the Spanish players will have troubles due to the physical aspect of the game, in fact, the speed of la liga games is fast, very fast, and players do have to work the resistance a lot in order to hold that pace along the 90 mins.

IMHO, Spanish players might have adaptation problems. The poor english teaching and poor education of predemocratic Spain have made many single languaged-hardly adaptable guys. Fortunately that's changing and you have players like Alonso with a decent english. In the case of Joaquin you might find that he's ok phisycally, but he could not be able to speak english after 2 years.

I too was terrified every time Joaquin got the ball on Tuesday night and think he would be a dream buy. If Chelsea go in for him the price will be too high but otherwise there is a chance. I'd love a right winger to come to the Premiership and put that cocky sh@t Ronaldo is his place.
