Carra: keane is better than gerrard?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

why do people call it an all time xi and then pick a team from the last 20 years? isn't that "last 20 years xi".

Colour TV came in mid 1960s but does that mean that there were no great players before that - Girancha, Just Fontaine etc.

Also there is a strong bias towards players who have played in england. I think Roy Keane is excellent but there is no way he'd be the best ever in his position.

Even Kenny Dalglish isn't good enough to get in ahead of Maradonna, pele etc and Van Basten was better than Rush or Lineker.

Personally I don't think any player from England league (ever) would get in. Schmeichel would have a shout against that Russian goalie in 1950s/60s. Banks was good but one great save (any better than Robinsons against Hartson?) doesnt make the greatest ever.

Think "ever" if you are doing a best ever. otherwise start a thread "that I've seen"

Well it's all about opinions mate and yours is worth at least as much as mine. My suspicion is we are never going to agree because I think you are miles wide of the mark. Stll like I say there's nothing wrong with disagreement.
I would say this though, there was a time during the late 90's when Keanne was that good that I got the feeling that if we'd have had him rather than Man U then we would've won the title. Now we HAVE got Gerrard so I hope you are calling it right and he wins us the title.

But you cant be sure Keane would of helped us win the title in the late 90s.

Would your anti-English sentement allow a little unknown fella called Bobby Moore a shout at entry?? 'Cos he wasn't world class was he?? Just ask Pele'?

No anti - english sentiment. Bobby Moore was amazing, a fantastic player. In the last 30 years alone I think Beckenbaur and Baresi were better (both won lots more too).

Is that being disrespectul to a great player like Bobby Moore?

I'm not too keen on being classed as bigoted either

I am pretty sure carragher named Keane because he fancied some raw aggression in the middle

If it is MY post it is safe to assume they are players I have seen, unless you would like me to put "according to my Grandad" in brackets after each player or better still have HIM post instead of me.  ???
