Not sure if its already been mentioned today but Bill Shankly was born on this day in 1913. Whatever this club does, Shanks began. Wherever this club goes, he was the first to point the way. A giant who is still carrying us all on his shoulders today.
This club wouldn't be what it is if this great man wasn't there. A great ambassedor for the club and should always be remembered. His quotes were fantastic and he seemed a funny guy. I remember someone telling me that Liverpool had a match with someone and bobby moore was playing and he used to watch the opposition come in to intimidate them said "Bobby moore has bags under his eyes, he's slow, he's got dandruff and he's old, now go and get him boys." then after the final whistle he turned to his players and said "That Bobby Moore is a hell of a player" Also when he signed crazyhorse when he was playing for blackpool he aid "Do you want to play for a football club son"
RIP Shanks YNWA

After the 5:1 defeat by Ajax in the European Cup in 1967: 'Five-one...Aye, that should help them to make a game of it when they come to Anfield for the 2nd leg.' R.I.P
I remember the last day of standing on the Kop, the whole of Anfield was chanting his name time after time. Then they introduced his widow Nessie (now also gone to a better place) out onto the field to cries of "One Mrs Shankly, there's only one Mrs Shankly!". Can you imagine the PRIDE she felt for her dear departed husband? Makes my eyes fill up just thinking about it
The Great Bill Shankly, RIP
