Houllier: This isn't a bad result

Gerard Houllier declared himself very satisfied with the performance of his Liverpool team at relegation haunted Leicester City, and said 0-0 is not a bad result.

The manager was at pains to point out that his players deserve a lot of credit for their performance as they were tired and mentally drained after the trip to Marseille.

Houllier felt Liverpool dominated the match and should have won the game.

Houllier said: "Listen, when you have to travel for a game away in Europe midweek then you have to travel again on the Sunday it is difficult and tiring.

"You just don't have the same spark and this isn't a bad result. I would say it is just a missed opportunity to extend the lead over Newcastle.

"We dominated the match and had the chances to win it. Leicester had a chance to win it at the end but that would have been very unfair as we did not deserve to lose."

This is why i hate houllier this he has got absolutely no hunger and is satisfied with O-O draws against teams that should be in the 1st division

I was surprised he didn't claim we'd been beaten by Marseille because we'd played Wolves the previous weekend.

Tiring my a*se !!

Yet another poor performance and poor result, followed by more bullsh*t excuses. I watched the game and if he's happy with that then I'm gobsmacked. Bloody pathetic, the man's becoming a joke.

I knew Thursday would form part of his excuses. Of course we wouldn't be playing on Thursday nights if we were in the champions league........

it is incomprehensible that a draw to a team that is going to be relegated is acceptable-- could one imagine sir alex accepting this result-- to him and to any proper liverpool manager ties are not acceptable especially to lesser teams.

i truly hope that moore and parry are not snowed by this guy --i've seen the snowjob before and it took an empty stadium to clear the fog-- maybe the fans should turn their backs to GH until the game begins-- that will give a message

make me the manager-- i casn't be worse and i'll work cheap

We couldn't even beat s*itty Leicester.

This is supposed to be a club that wants Champion's League football next season???

I'm sure AC Milan and Real Madrid are trembling with fear.

Right ok. Lets look at it properly.

What he actually said!!!

Listen, when you have to travel for a game away in Europe midweek then you have to travel again on the Sunday it is difficult and tiring

I agree with that totally.

You just don't have the same spark and this isn't a bad result. I would say it is just a missed opportunity to extend the lead over Newcastle

Again correct. I don't care who you are if you travelled 2000 miles alround in a week that will tire you. Again i don't see whats wrong here.

We dominated the match and had the chances to win it. Leicester had a chance to win it at the end but that would have been very unfair as we did not deserve to lose.

Again i agree. Forget what the reporter writes thats what he says. None of it is bullsh#t, none of it is an excuse. All he is doing is stating facts and looking at it in a positive manner, it could have been worse.

I think GH is fully aware of the fragility of his position and is therefore very defensive after poor performances. That is why we get to hear so many excuses week in week out. I remember during out 1st season in the Champ league we had a very good record in the league following each mid-week game in Europe. I don't remember if we won all the games (maybe Owzat has the stats) but we did very well. There was no mention of tiredness then. I believe it is a lame excuse. GH would be better off taking bad performances on the chin because it seems there is always reference to somethin that is out of his hands or not his fault. I would have more respect for him if he put his hands up and said 'we were s##t'

And NEWCASTLE after travelling in Europe produced a stunning performance at Bolton did they ? NO and Robson, the venerated man of football said much the same about his team today. I was at the game today and as a suporter it wasn't pretty to watch i can assure you especially when you pay£32 ??? LFC looked knackered and Leicster deserved a draw, they OUTFOUGHT us but didn't OUTPLAY us , (Their incapable) It was a messy physical, stop /start game not helped by an over fussy ref and his assistants.  We tried our best and today it wasn't enough to win us all 3 points. Tactically GH still leaves a bit to be desired, he obviously dropped Murphy after this inept performance on Thurs and brings Cheyrou in ......Fast forward 70 mins, Cheyrou has been invisible all game so GH brings Murphy on ! Sounds like Plan B reverting back to Plan A which didn't work in previous game to me ???? Confused ? Join the club !LOL

Thank god for supporters like stu the red
A voice of sanity in an otherwise world of hysteria
who shall we sack this week.?
I know, the "tea lady" we forgot her.
Well "supporters" its reality time,  God has not said we must win a trophy every year.
Face it all teams have bad times(ask Leeds) Good times will come back.

Just because he chooses not to publicly bollock players doesn't mean he doesn't do it behind the scenes. Houllier isn't the fool most of you think he is. The fools are the ones who think he's stupid and knows nothing about the game.

Red Harry ? Don't i get a commendation for my post !!! LMAO :p I thought i summed up the game well without absolving GH from all blame for what was a poor performance against a  determined yet poor side . I dont demand a divine right to win things either, i'd like to see a little more entertaining football to be honest though cos at £32 to travel away and £375 for the cheapest Season ticket I dont think its unreasonable to expext a level of performance and entertainment befitting such prices , do you ? :D Or are you happy seeing the "QUALITY" of football your seeing at present and lets face it, been seeing for the last 2 seasons ? :D

I hate this. GH gives the players a pat on their back, " well done lads" he says. "One point away to Leicester, well done."

What do you think AF and AW would have said and done? Well done lads? I am happy with the result?

If you accept poor performances thats exactly what you'll get.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

Three points in four away games against Wolves, Leicester, Leeds and Portsmouth is not good enough, they're the bottom four ffs. The away trip to France as an excuse was both predictable and laughable. Two days to recover from a short plane trip ought to be enough.

The more he makes his excuses, the more the players start to believe it. It's a vicious circle - rather than get told they played s##t and come out to make ammends in the next game they're gonna think "oh well it wasn't our fault we played s##t"; and come out next game playing no better and putting in no more effort.
