Why should cisse go anyway? I think we need 4 good strikers for all competitions and that's what we'll have. I think some of you need to get off Morientes' back as his record speaks for itself. with Owen in the fold aswell, we'll have plenty of possibilities and a strike force to be feared.

Imagine cisse, owen and morientes runnin at ya, the former 2 at breakneck speed! When these catch fire, watch out Chelsea!

Yes, I think 4 strikers will be good.  Cisse won't have to leave.  Once he gets going, he can really score some goals.  And you always have to prepare for injuries.

Sending Cisse away is not a good idea.

I hope Djib doesn't leave, he's already a legend in my eyes just on how committed he's been for us. Apparently there have already been some offers for him. I really hope he doesn't leave.

haha... it was a joke, i was taking the :censored: of the current situation.  u guys get wound up too easily.  but think of it this way.. if he was out of the team for say... 3 weeks, that's long enough for us to keep cisse, buy owen and end up with 4 strikers and hopefully they all find form.  Of course, in reality i wish no harm to anybody, especially a liverpool player.

apparently the board are going to buy owen with their own funds.  Rafa doesn't really rate Owen as a high priority signing and has told the Parry that he needs to buy a defender and midfielder....looks like the board will allow rafa to buy his players and he will let them buy theirs as long as it doesn't interfere with his transfer plans or squad

^^^ that would be the ideal scenario, providing we don't sell cisse.  It almost seems like rafa has the board wrapped around his finger

from what i've heard...The board will not force Rafa to sell anyone he doesn't want to.  Question is...does Rafa want Cisse?

If anything, the idea of Owen and Cisse tearing apart defences left right and center with they pace they contain would be a thing of beauty.

Souey fears Reds over Owen
Newcastle boss Graeme Souness has admitted the club's move for Michael Owen could be scuppered by Liverpool.

Souness sealed the signing of Albert Luque on Friday and he is looking to make Owen his second striking capture in what is the final week of the transfer window.

Real Madrid have accepted a club-record offer from Newcastle for the forward and Owen's advisors have been in contact with The Magpies.

It is believed, though, that Owen is holding out for a move to his former club Liverpool and Souness has confirmed they are facing competition from the European champions.

"We would like two more," Souness told Sky Sports News. "We have an offer on the table which has been accepted by Real Madrid for Owen and in the last 24 hours we have spoken to Michael's advisors, so that's where we are with it."

Souness went on to dismiss suggestions that Newcastle's offer is a publicity stunt.

"You don't offer the kind of money we have to gain a bit of publicity," added the Scot. "It will break the transfer record of Alan (Shearer) for this club and we are offering big, big money.

"There are only a handful of players who could replace Shearer and Owen, we feel, is one of them.

"We have had a difficult start to the season, but we have corrected the left side by signing Luque and now we need a 20-goal man up front to play with Shearer.

"He would be loved by our fans if he came here. Michael has a wee bit of doubt about coming here, as he played for Liverpool, was born in the North West and has a lot of friends there.

"But this is a big football club as well. He's in a wonderful position because he knows we have made our intention known.

"There is another club involved and there's a pull there because he's played there before, but this is a monster of a club waiting to take off."

Luque's arrival from Deportivo La Coruna increases Souness' attacking options, but the Scot feels the Spaniard can fill the position vacated by Laurent Robert on the left wing.

"This gives us a bit of balance," added Souness. "We sold Robert in the summer and needed a left-sided player with genuine pace and he is someone we feel will do really well for this club.

"He can play off the target man, alongside Shearer if we went three up front or wide on the left in a 4-4-2 in midfield."
