well it was inevitable, so what? weve got to beat these sides at some point.
at least in someways we BOTH can go through .....but with REAL BETIS as well!!!!    :p  its going to be TOUGH.

btw when panathinaikos came out how come they couldnt go to group g? at that point olympiakos hadnt even been drawn?

well done to stevie, he well deserves it. i bet he feels ten foot

steven gerrard  MVP.....................(how many seats does it have)!

is there a simple explanation or has something dodgy just happened???

it's to do with tv rights. So milan were in groups E F G H
and because juve are from the same country they had to be put in eith A B C D

can anyone elaborate on this cos i still dont quite get the reasoning behind it. juve and milan were already drawn when udinese came out, yet for some reason they couldnt go into our group.

it's to stop teams from the same country being drawn in the same league. After this round has finished they halve the number of groups and again it's to stop teams ending up in a group with teams from the same country. They have to make sure that teams aren't in a group where they could meet the wrong team in the next round. (sorry- easier to explain than write!)

I think because Arsenal and Manure were already in the A B C D section and we were the only English team in E F G H so Chelsea must be drawn with us.

Last season Anderlecht had 0 points  in the  cl,  but dont underestimate them. Last year they had a pretty bad first  half  of  the season, but after they fired their coach they  began to play nice and they got the 2nd place. They have got a few good players, like Kompany  ( on of the biggest talents from Belgium), they already  compare him to Nesta and recently Arsenal and Barcelona had interest in him.Wilhemson, Akin and Proto ( Arsenal were  interested  in him also) are good to.

Bring it on!

I haven’t gone through this entire thread, just read a few posts.

Very excited that we are in the same group.

Last time you deserved to win over the 2 legs, however the goal was a dicey decision.

This time around.. both managers will be looking at winning it with no controversies and in style --- and you know what that means --- 2 great matches!

Mouth is watering ... cant wait for the CL to start ... Jose will look forward to this game and will prepare the team with super duper tactics - as will Rafa.

Its down to the players to step up and deliver, I hope none of our teams have injury issues and that all players are on form so we have 2 crackin games.

Anyway we will finish top 2 in the grp and both will go thru, but it will make an interesting grp

Cheers

Steven Gerrard has revealed he wasn't surprised by the fact that Liverpool have drawn Chelsea in the group phase of this season's Champions League.
With no country protection Reds were always vulnerable to being paired with the team they defeated in the semi-final of last season's competition and Gerrard is looking forward to another great occasion.

"I knew we were going to be playing Chelsea. I wasn't surprised at all. I just had a feeling," said the Liverpool skipper immediately after the draw.

"The game at Anfield against Chelsea last season was a very special occasion and I'm sure it will be special again this time. They have a special manager and I think it will be two very close games."

Jerzy Dudek, who was also in attendance at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, added: "There was a lot of speculation about who we might get and I had a funny feeling we would be playing Chelsea again. It should be another special atmosphere at Anfield and we will give it our best."
''I talk about the table. We need a leg, so I have bought a leg.'' Rafa Benitez
