well we know he is desperate..  :D but he will join us.. once we get our "centre bak and right-sided midfielder.. " oh and Moores has cashed in his cheque, which says "pay.. self"..  :D

i wish rafa would make some sort of statment outlining his interest in the mo saga as us geordies r getting desprate for a new striker as i seen a zimmer getting delivered to our traing ground today with a tag on saying FAO  A . SHEARER and it had wheels fitted

I admit though, if Owen dosn't come back and becomes a Newcastle player he will be welcomed there like a god like Keegan and Shearer were. One thing about the toon army they like their strikers.

All of us have been waiting for weeks now for rafa to say we want him or we don't want him. But centre back and RW are his priority. I think when we fill those 2 positions we will go in for him. But the question is will that be too late?

Really can't be bothered wading through 52 pages, but just wanted to raise a point in case it's not been mentioned already.

Even though we sold Owen for £8m last year, we've saved around £5.2m in wages by not having him on our books for the last year (his wages were quoted as £100,000 a week at Real).

On this basis, it's only if we pay over £13m for him that we'd technically make a loss on his sale and repurchase.

 Lol mate, but how do you think we feel Rafa has been doing me nut in, with his right sided midfielder, and Centre half, and we have enough good striker statements   :D

If any of today's statements are true, Owen has a chance to put right everything he did to us last year - if he really said to Real "I'll only go Liverpool, or on loan", then he can get them to sell him to us for whatever we want to pay - just like they did to us last year. he can look after his own intersts that way too. I think he's too proud to go to a mid table side - with all the problems Newcastle have got, Owen is not going to be enough to get them into the Champions League.
Having said that Benitez has stated his priorities, and he's right about them, and right to stick to his opinion too. If there's no money left after those deals, then in theory we can't buy Owen. But we're talking about Real Madrid - the club who never bother with the boring bit of actually PAYING the transfer fees they agree. So why can't we agree, say 12 mil, 4 now (which they owe us anyway), and the other 8 when we feel like it - maybe 2 or 3 years time! Or bring him in on loan for a season, they pay his wages and we forget about the 4 mil.
As for the stuff about Benitez not wanting him, I dont buy that - even if he won't tell the press that, he's man enough to tell the Board, if that's what he thinks. Owen would quickly get the message that he wasn't wanted here, and there wouldn't be any comments from him about wanting to come back. More likely is that Benitez has told Owen that he'll "bring him back if poss, but no promises, as he's not top priority". If so then if Owen does come back, he'll be a bit more humble than before he left. Could still be all perfect :;):
