The only player to come out of this game with some praise is the youg kid Sissoko.  He's going about his business, settling into the team and also this pace of football which is very different to La Liga. I'm sure he'll improve the more he plays.

The same however cannot be said about some of the other players tonight, Garcia needs to play the ball easy rather than attempting these flicks and back heels that rarely find a player in Red.  Zenden needs to play the ball that probaly 5 million people were shouting him to give at there Tv's tonight when JAR ran 40 yds to overlap him only for him to give the ball away cheaply.

Again more scorn will be heaped on the front two and IMP quire rightly as at this level you may only get one chance and you need to bury it.

Looking on the bright side we're through to the draq which those nice people at UEFA will be chuffed about and better than that the Toffees will be out tomorrow !!

Just got back from Anfield, can't even be arsed posting.  I'll post my views tomorrow.  Felt like asking for my money back.  At least we're in the hat for the draw.

Goodnight.  :(

to be honest, i just want to forget about this game tonight. we've qualified which was the main objective. i'm more concerned about the game on friday now.

we knew our problems before the game and nothing has changed. our lack of depth is all too evident and the lack of goals is certainly a worry. i fully expect to see action before the deadline to rectify these problems.

last year, we lost at home to graz and people were on here saying that we weren't even going to get through the group stage. we all know what happened.

Sissoko is looking more and more like the new Veira by the day!  I can't believe how well he is setting in.  :;):

agree with the comments about the front 2, they arn't performing and, dare i say it, we need to bring in someone new...........sod it, we NEED OWEN back  :p

we don't have a 25 + goal scorer and i'd rather us bring in Owen than keep with what we have

stanley park, couldn't this have gone in the existing thread about tonight's game? You know, the one DIRECTLY NEXT TO THIS ONE STARING YOU IN THE FACE?

or is your opinion just so goddam important that it needs a thread all of its own?

Yes his opinion is so Goddam important that it needs a thread all of its own. It could be a very busy thread, under all thing rubbish this season at anfield this season. So why doesnt the moderator unlock the thread so we can continue posting in it, for some unbiased opinions.

Once again another lacklustre performance. 0 - 1. Thank goodness we played better at their ground. What on earth was Darren Potter even doing on the field, what a disaster. And then he is replaced with Luis Garcia - just as bad - got booed and jeered from the moment he came on the ground and did very little if anything to impress. No drive through the centre of the park what so ever. Sissoko, yes was the best player on the ground but didn't set the world on fire, commits to many fouls for my liking. Pongolle should have replaced Morientes not Cisse. Tonight further outlined the case for either getting back Michael Owen or signing Dirk Kuijt. Yes we may have a number of strikers but our only premiership goal in two games has been scored from a midfielder and from a set piece at that. One or both of Nando and Dibj are going to have to score and start doing it both quickly and on a far more regular basis. Putting the ball inb the net is what wins games and at the moment we don't seem to be doing that at all well. Lets hope the game against CSKA Moscow has some positives to bring out of it .

Some serious questions need asking, as to why Cisse was subbed for Pongolle and Morientes wasnt, the truth seems to be coming to the surface now, and I am sorry but Cisse is 10 times better than morientes and all his confidence has been wiped out with recent tranfer speculation, it hasnt helped him I feel sorry for him, f@ck knows what he must be thinking.
And Morientes got took off the ball so much tonight unbelievable  but Rafa prefers to sub Cisse rather than Morientes, Hamann stunk the joint out tonight, and all that appears rosy on the surface obviously isnt.
F*ckin wake up Liverpool

I'm not sure if Gerrard will be available or Crouch, we'll need to play a lot better than tonight if we're going to win the 1st silverware of 2005/06

Sissoko and Josemi the only two that done there jobs tonight, the rest of them need to bury there heads, f*ckin disgrace

We couldn't keep hold of the ball, and CSKA showed us how to do it.  They had good possession and got in behind us with pace and incisive passing all too often.

Yes we had half a team out, but this could be the team we have to go with in deepest january when injuries and suspensions kick in.

No cutting edge up front at all.

Nando looks Sunday League.  Cisse looks shaky.  Pongo looked the part more than those two and he was only on the pitch 5 minutes.

FFS let's get three players signed this week.

1. CB (Josemi is not cover!!)
2.  Right winger (Potter needs to be sent out on loan for about the next 12 years)
3.  Striker - Owen or Kuyt, don't give a toss either way.  Just someone who knows where the goal is and has some self belief.
