Agree that £14m is a lot to spend on another unproven Frenchman but we definitely need to strengthen our squad up front as hopefully we will offload Heskey and (sad to say) we can't guarantee Owen's gonna be around much longer.

Forssell is good but not sure he's good enough. It's one thing looking class compared with your team mates at Birmingham, it's another thing looking class at Liverpool.

The consensus seems to be Forssell would be a good acquisition, does anyone else share my doubts?

Most of what has been voiced in the press about Cisse has been very positive and i get the impression that several other top clubs would have been in for him if the deal with Liverpool wasn't so water tight. I have only seen himplay on a handful of occasions so i really can't say how he will get on. I don't mind us spending a lot of money on the lad as long as there is enough money in the kitty to fill the 2 positions we desperately need to fill - Right Mid and Centre-half. with 14mill gone on Cissse how will we fill these positions? Particularly with Moores telling Morgan where to stik his money.

Cisse may do well, i bloody well expect him to do so for that kind of dosh but our problems do not just stem from playing Heskey up front. You can't just change the front man an hey presto, everything is ok. Houllier has a lot of work to do if he hangs on to his job - Like getting the team to retain possession of the ball, getting them to move for eachother once they have passed the ball, convincing them to look for the easy pass instead of the long ball. School boy stuff but very important

The team needs to hold possession more and not try to ruch things.

Watch the good sides in the CL and even when they are 1-0 behind with 10 minutes to go they keep their heads and shape and try to play their way out of trouble.

Liverpool often go through phases in games where we can actually look good, but we go a goal down and then the likes of Riise panicks and starts whipping the ball down field.

Most teams nowadays can deal with the big up and under with five minutes left: you need to keep your shape and possession if you want to get an equalizer.

Its time to buy proven premiership players or at least players who do well in spain & Italy. Not all the french players are as good as Pires & Henry (someone tell GH this). I remember that Tony Cascarino (the irish striker) was once the top scorer in the french league.....

Diouf, Diao, Biscan, Smicer & Cheryou have not done justice to their transfer fees.

Instead of buying them, liverpool could have bought Duff and Robbie Keane.

ita a terrible shame that liverpool didnt just go ahead and break the bank for duff, all that was needed was to match his buy-out clause,we could have easily done that, add up diao, diouf, biscan, traore that would surely be half the money at least and then add a few million that we have been throwing at 'one for the futures' and we could have had an amazing talent who actually supported liverpool as a kid! very sad that we didnt! :(

Its nothing like the £14m thats being branded about.
£10m-£12m. is a bit more like it.

As for Forrsell get real. Whats he gonna offer us what we haven't got in Owen and Baros? We don't need more backup we need players who are going to improve the first 11.

Although Liverpool have denied that a deal has been done Auxerre have said they have shook hands on a deal for £14.2million.

Thats what the Auxerre president said back in January....and as Liverpool have said nothing on the fee thats the only figure we can go on for the moment.

I hope we can get him for closer to the £10-11million mark, so we have some extra cash for a right sided midfielder and maybe an extra centre half.

I agree, the midfield and defence should have been our priorities in the transfer market.  Our strikers may look bad sometimes, but that is mainly due to a lack of chances created by the rest of the team.

I think he has bought him (Cisse) with an eye to Owen leaving.  If this is the case, we should have plenty to spend in the transfer market in the summer.

If u think about and dont lie none of you heard of nearly all the players G.H. signed before they were signed. At least cisse is a big name and we have all seen him play the odd game.Hey he aint on the french team because of his great personality. He's there cus he's good.Only really kept off first spot by Henry.Lets face it no one could take his place.

Cisse is worth a try but £14m is  hell of a lot of money to lash out on one player when we need to strengthen the squad in other areas, arguably before we start buying any more strikers.

IMO we need to raise cash by having a clearout, get what we can for Diao, Biscan and Heskey and look at who's available and for what price. Trouble with Houllier is he sets his mind on particular players and then gets rogered bigtime by the selling club. He needs to be more flexible, it is no secret he is after Cisse and that could be costly.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer
