Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby LFC #1 » Sun Aug 21, 2005 9:40 am

Thats what I thought initially, and I think the initial contact was in fact unintentional. However when he actually made the contact he thought " :censored: it I'll go a step further and give him a shove, and a look of disdain." Nothing sinister about it, a yellow would have been apt IMO.

Alright fair enuff but i was judging his intent on the way he moved toward and the initial contact but I think we are in agreement that it was never a red card.

With all due respect Starbie, I think Chelsea forever is a slightly different case. This Sunderland fella came on last night and wanted to talk about mainly his team which is fine, we had just played them. If he came on in two months and started a topic about some right-back they had just signed from Scunthorpe then we would all say WTF?
My problem with Chelsnowtheyvegotafewquid, is that he attempts on occasions to turn discussions into all things Chelsea. A Steven Gerrard thread becomes a discussion on the relative merits of Stevie and Fat Frank. A comment about Wenger buying unproven players and turning them into stars becomes a discussion on the relative success of Chelsea and Arsenal in Europe.
He'a a good guy and a knowledgeable poster but I've picked him up on this a couple of times. You try to do it with respect though. It's totally unnecessary to slag the fella. There used to be some girl who supported Manure get on here to wind people up. She deserved all she got. Similarly the Hustler in whichever fiendish disguise he is currently sporting (though I must confess I do find him quite funny on occasions for my sins) deserves some abuse. Not this fella yesterday though. We WON the game FFS. Surely we can find it in ourselves to figureatively shake hands and say "unlucky mate". It's not that hard is it?

I may be getting a little precious here but I think one or two should be ashamed of their contribution.
If winning the CL means we are all going to turn into Mank-like Winkers then I wish it hadn't of happened to be honest. The fella comes on here, says he'll be cheering us on in against CSKA as his team will never ever qualify, and we slag him off? He feely admits that they are going to fighting relegation all season, so we laugh at his teams predicament? He's proud that his team won the Championship last season, so we say "Nah nah nah nah nah, its not as prestigious as the CL? He's a bit one-eyed as far as the game goes, so we destroy the fella? He's actually proud that his team got beat "only" 1-0 by Liverpool, so we laugh in his face?
Well not me. There were some good people involved in this pack, some people I have a lot of respect for. People can slag me all they want, not a scouser?, how many games do you get to mate? I don't care. That was wrong and I hope if this fella does ever revisit the site or indeed any supporter from a non-rival team (unless I've missed something and we have descended to the point where Sunderland are our main rivals), that we treat them with respect.

i wasn't laughing at him at all, i know i was the one who said about the CL being more prestigious, but i didn't go nah nah nah etc.

sorry, i keep thinking you were talking to me about all that stuff

Well I agree that they are seperate cases (i even said so in my post) the point I was trying to make was how little respect many people on this forum have for supporters of other clubs.  I can think of at least half a dozen occasions when ChelseaForever has started a Liverpool related topic and have someone say 'Excuse me, what do you think you are doing posting on a Liverpool forum? how about u f.uck off now, I dont care that you were talking about liverpool and asking our opinion, trying to promote discussion, i just care that you arnt a liverpool fan so you arent welcome here.' obviously not in those exact words but with that sentiment.  Also with regards to him turning everything into Chelsea, I can recall quite recently him starting a topic after a few posts Lynds asked him a question about chelsea which he answered and then someone (i cant remember who) came into the topic and told him to stop trying to make everything abotu Chelsea, when in fact it hadnt been him who had turned discussion that way.  I agree that the way this fellow (keepthefaith) has been treated here is dissapointing, but I feel it isnt an isolated case.  The two other examples you mentioned are a different kettle of fish all together and I remember the girl you are talking about.  However I still think that many on this forum have too little respect for fans of other clubs when they come here, a case of 'you have to earn our respect before we'll treat you with any respect or seriousness' which I don't like as it goes against my philiosophy of 'you have my respect until you lose it'.

I agree completely - and to be fair what was said later in the discussion about Chelsea forever was another good point - I remember the thread when he was accused of trying to turn it into a discussion of Chelsea and Arsenal in Europe, and he did nothing of the kind.  He was talking about Arsenal in the transfer market compared to Rafa I think, and he pointed out that Wenger's signings haven't always been the best in Europe.

Suddenly:  "You are trying to compare Chelsea and Arsenal's European perfomances." WTF?

Anyway, rant over, I guess he won't be back for a while - but when he returns can we agree to treat him with a bit more respect?  It won't kill you.

I watched the sending off incident last night on MOTD, the way he pushed Garcia was out of order, and the agression on his face afterwards showed malicious intent, IMO.  It's 50-50 he could of got a yellow, he got a red.

As for the reaction to this poster, well I think many of us have wished his team stay up, wigan played well against Chelski last week and lost, Sunderland will obviously raise their game against us and other big clubs, the test for them is not against us but against the teams who will struggle in this division. As I said before seeking solice in a performance like that against the Euro champs is fine but there is a long hard season ahead.

Garcia might look like a pansy with TWO earings and a nicely groomed FRINGE but he wouldn't just drop like a fly without reason the Sunderland player floored him, Game Over :p:rasp

I agree zara...... it must be nice for him though, that he can come on to forums such as ours as a supporter of a premiership club.....bet he feels really big and important. The tackle by the way the lad IMO did show too much aggression at first it looks as though he accidently runs in to him,but when you see his face and reaction after ....i beg to differ

Garcia to be fair is to tricky for most players so they get drawn in to making rash challenges but i really think the player took his frustration out on the little guy.
