Arrogant get.

Ok, so we aren't "Champions of Europe" or even European material, but we are in the Premiership on merit, we won the Championship last season, we deserve to be here, no-one can take that away from us. 36 games remain in this Premiership and yes, it will have its ups and downs. But one thing is for sure...Sunderland AFC will FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT with every ounce of energy, every bead of sweat and every breath they take. Unlike some of the big clubs, our players play for the badge on the shirt and not the name on the back. We have, IMO, some of the best fans in England, we WILL get behind our team, we WON'T be broken down with comments about how "rubbish" we are. Even if this particular flirtation with the Premiership is for one season, we will enjoy it and if worst comes to worst, we will get behind our team to get them back where we so rightly belong.

Might just be me, but I feel writing a team off as "relegation dead certs" after two games is highly unfair and disrespectful. Anything can happen in the next 36 games and Mick is the man to keep us up.

this is casual banter my friend! don't take anything personally in a world of hype and exaggeration.  I personally like hearing the opinions of opposing fans and in many cases u guys comment on a lot of thing we refuse to see.

When have I ever been disrespectful? It's been none stop abuse towards me and/or Sunderland since I posted on here. All Sunderland fans want to see is Sunderland stay in the top flight, but according to some know-it-alls, we are already down.

I am being very objective here. Regarding your point about Garcia faking it, I really, really beg to differ. Welsh is a bigger man than Garcia, looking upon the impact when he crashed into Garcia, and the fact that Garcia was already losing his balance anyway after tussling with another Sun defender, it's harsh to say that he took a dive. He definitely did not make a meal out of it either. He just got up and got into position, waiting for play to start again. But who knows, the linesman thought differently. If there's anyone you can blame, its the linesman, not Garcia.

And also,I do feel that somehow Welsh got himself sent off. If you have any chance to look at replays, immediately after he crashed into Garcia, look at his body language and expression. Observe how smug he looked, and how he stared at the fallen body of Garcia with a hostile expression. That's probably what led the linesman to think that Welsh knocked Garcia off purposely, and with malice.

That said, I do symphatize with you that Welsh still did not do enough to get sent off. And the card will probably be retracted.

On the other side, to say that your side did not deserve to lose is...hmmm.... a bit too hard to accept. You might say if only Brown stuck his leg out, if only carra wasn't there etc. Well, we can also say if only the post wasn't in the way of gerrad's early cross into the box. if only cisse stuck a 'good' leg out (twice) etc etc. if nando and zenden sent their headers on target after being left unmarked. So you see, you really can't judge how a game would have been with examples like these. And oh, if only Gerrard played the whole game, then probably he would have made sure of a good result and save us all from this debate.

Nevertheless, I implore fellow Liverpool members to stop bringing up "WE ARE THE EURO CHAMPIONS -- NAY NAY NEE BOO BOO" every now and then. That's in the past..let's move on to greater things. If you want to have a good discussion with someone, base your discussion on what you are discussing. Dont conveniently drag out the fact that we're Euro champions.

Lot of fans in this forum are getting a bit swollen headed. Be modest, be nice. That's what Liverpool fans are always about. Faith has come here with no ill intentions except for letting out some of his frustration at getting a man sent off for nothing. We should understand that. We shouldn't jump on him, nor should we (which some of you obviously do) look down on him just bcos "he's sunderland, I'm euro champion".
Euro Champ won't count for nothing if we cant get good results every week. Show your opponent the same respect they have always show pool supporters. Dont let success get to your heads, otherwise how different will we be from manure?

Brilliant post I think.  There is no reason to abuse Faith.  Sunderland are a team with fighting spirit as they showed today.  Yes we played better them, and deserved to win - but we are also a better side than them.  There's no reason to be disrespectful to a team trying thier best and coming away from Anfield with their heads held high.

We won, lets be happy about that rather than treating Faith like he's a Manure fan.  Think about how much you love LFC.  Now think about how you would feel if people said the kind of things that have been said about Sunderland on here.  'Garbage' ' :censored:', and so on.  That in itself is :censored:.  If Sunderland finish bottom this season, they will finish 20th in a structure reaching all the way down to teams nobody has heard of.  Any side in the top flight are bloody good - FACT.

Faith; I guess a lot of Liverpool fans are frustrated - we're living in worrying times, our skipper and talisman has picked up an injury, and our strikers aren't firing on all cylinders, in fact the guns are jammed.  We didn't take our chances at Boro, and apart from a genius free-kick we didn't today.  We all had very high hopes before the season started, and unless at least 2 of our strikers can click into form* those hopes could very eaisily evaporate.  I think if you were to post on here after the (hopefully) return of Michael Owen, you'd find a lot of people less tense, and worried - and get a much better and more respectful reception.

Garcia didn't dive though.  He was off balance, and Welsh's momentum was always going to send him crashing to the floor.  Not a red card, but also not Garcia's fault.  I hope you stay up this season, good luck with that; because just now you are just as worthy of your place in the top division as any other side there.  If you finish the season with a big R next to your name, then you won't deserve your place, and you won't have it.  Last season you finished with a P/C.  So good luck to you.

To my fellow reds:  Why didn't we abuse Juventino like this?  Chelsea forever gets more repsect that this half the time (not all the time I know) and he supports the 'chequebook champions', a dirty scummy plastic team with a sh*t-for-brains, media obsessed, spoilt little leach as thier manager.  A plastic team indeed.  Not a real, football club that actually had to earn their sucess.  We are not W*nkchester or Chel$ea 'fans' so lets prove that we are not just great supporters, but good winners too.

*Cisse it could be argued is there already, but goals against TNS are Kanuas are probably eaisier than those he'll score in training - he got one against CSKA though.

You played both halfs with 10 men defending, you had a bunch of kids out today and when class got the better of them they couldnt handle it.
You just broke the play up constanlty not to let us play our passing game, constant fouls Sunderland fouls 17 liverpool 4 ??? .
With our class we should have wiped the floor with you, but it wasnt to be cause our players had just come back from Internationals, sorry but Wigan played a lot better against Chelsea than you did today against us.

You must have been watching a different game. One thing we did not do was outclass Sunderland. Playing international games is no excuse. Anf for a team that played 10 behind the ball they attacked very well and almost stole a point late on. Goals win matches and the current bunch of forwards we have couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. BRING BACK OWEN !!. And do it now

Good post RRT.

Having seen the replay of the incident a few times now, I am inclined to say that Garcia didn't dive, but I also noticed something I didn't watching the game then (no replays on Arabic TV) and that was Garcia forcibly used his arm across Arca's face after Arca won the ball - Garcia then tried to chase Arca, thus using his arm - so I am slightly aggrieved that he wasn't carded for that, especially as it was in full view of the linesman.

I am not one to be bitter and keep going on about things, hell, I'll wake up in the morning and Man City will be the next thing I focus on, and not Liverpool and what went wrong etc.

I also can't help but feel that my image of LFC fan's has gone downhill, I have been on several message boards that have Liverpool fans and aside from the usual 15 year old kid who still uses "European Champs" as an excuse to think they are great most Liverpool fans have been great, but this board has opened my eyes to how arrogant and ignorant some fans can be.

As I said in my original post, I wish you every luck in the season, and aslong as you are beating the teams around us I will be happy, but I hope that any fellow fans that do sign up to this board don't get the same treatment I have done.

I might make a visit once in a while, just to let you know how things are. But adios!

I'm sure you now realise the stupidity of this statement!?! OK, lets assume you, Sunderland AFC, buried the three chances you had. You would see this as fair. 3-1, on account that the Mackems created 3 chances, and we had 15.

Right.....!

Now wouldn't a fairer summary be LFC 15-3 Sunderland?
Cheers matey, I always hoped we'd knock more than 9 in in a competative match!!!!!
