although i admire woodgates skill i dont like him as a person especially with all the troublew he got in at leeds and newcastle, but i do believe rafa will keep him at bay if we did get him. But why would real get rid of another defender they already got rid of walter samuel but we all know real dont like defenders.

Further comments from Luxemburgo that totally takes away Woodgate's dignity include:

"(After playing in the U-14,) Then he can go on to play alongside the 16 and 17-year-olds."

Looks like Madrid no longer treat the sicknote as a grown up man. Guess they are thinking that any service they get from him in the first team should be considered as a bonus.

Woodgate is a world-class CB, but his very very promising career has been plagued by injury.  He's like Metzelder.  If he can stay fit, he'll be great for us.  However, it's a big risk and Real wouldn't let him go for nothing.

woodgate turned newcastle around a few years ago, they were struggling until he signed and next minute they had one of the best defenses in the league.
i heard on the spanish footy on sky though that the madrid coach called woodgate "possibly the best defender in the world", well if they are trying to loan him out but at the same time saying comments like that i`d be very wary. seems to me they know he`s a walking timebomb and fancy offloading the wages onto someone else.
no doubt a fit jon woodgate is a great defender but why would madrid want to loan out such a great player unless something is up?
hmmm.....

When he's fit, Woodgate is a superb defender, I believe he's the main reason Rio Ferdinand looked so good at Leeds. He's proved though, that going to Newcastle is a quick way to send your career down the toilet - although his injury problems are on a par with Chris Kirklands.

He is class, but what's the point of paying his wages for a year if he's out injured?
