I am sorry, but I can't agree with people who think that this was a good performance. For once Stevie didn't manage to save us and all our other players were exposed.
I am sick to death of us fannying about in the midfield. Noone in our team apart from Stevie and sometimes Sososososososososkkoookoo are looking to beat people. The one time Cisse actually decides to run down the byline and wallop the ball in behind and we have a chance. It isn't as difficult as we insist on making it.
It seems to me like we are too desperate to be Arsenal at times (a sickness half the premiership suffers from) and it isn't our style of playing. Let's beat people and get the ball in there.
As for Alonso, Garcia, Morientes, Cisse.....I sincerely have my doubts about their potential to be effective in the premiership, although I am giving Morientes the benefit at the moment as he just isn't getting the service.
Baros seemed to be looking up a little more this evening, although a perfect example of why we would do well to secure owen was given at the moment of the cisse cross, gerrard header wide. That ball skimmed across the goal and a poacher with a nose for a chance would have been following up on that on the off chance. Baros was 6 yards off the ball and running in the wrong direction.
I've been patient through the pre-season and haven't said anything bad about them, but when Stevie is the only one getting into positions that you would expect the strikers to be getting into..... we're in trouble.
