Todays thoughts - More houllier cr#p

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Tue Mar 16, 2004 2:49 pm

Gerard Houllier today looked ahead to the remaining eleven games of Liverpool's Premiership season and declared: "I'm convinced we will finish fourth."

The Reds have a great chance to stamp their authority on the race for the final Champions League place this week when they entertain Portsmouth and Wolves in the space of four days at Anfield.

Houllier wants his players to take maximum points from both matches before stringing together a consistent run of results to ensure they will be competing among Europe's elite next season.

The Liverpool manager said: "We know what we have to do to get fourth and I am convinced we will get there.

"We have been too unlucky of late for that to continue over the rest of the season. We just have to keep on showing the same attitude and committment and I am confident we will get to where we want to be.

"We've had a difficult season in terms of injuries but I think our football has been good. We didn't deserve to lose at Southampton on Sunday and even their manager was big enough to admit that. We had more chances than they did and more shots on goal.

"We now have a real chance this week to impose ourselves on the league and to get into that top four. There are four or five teams challenging for that fourth place and we will give everything we have to get there."

impose ourselves on the league? what a joke. that possibility went out the window in october. the guy talks absolute sh#te. it's the same garbage week in week out. we've imposed ourselves on nothing this season and the sooner its over the better.

We've been hearing this kind of muck since August.

Believe me there are more slip ups along the way: Leicester away and Charlton at home are two games that I fear, not to mention Man UTD and Arsenal away.

However, GH could limp home in 4th as Newcastle are a disaster and I reckon 57-60 points will get the 4th spot.

What's encouraging is the fact that with a draw tomorrow against Portsmouth we will reach the 40 point mark and so avoid relegation.
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW SHINING AT THE END OF EVERY DAY.

To be true to you reds fans just as me, im 100% sure we will not reach 4th spot. The reason is simple, in 11 games, we can only win a maximum of 6 as the other ties are impossible to deal with. Away at Arsenal and Man UTd will surely be defeats, if not heavy ones. Its impossible to claim points there. And next week, we will be disqualified from the UEFA cup. Its 70% sure based on our form. So, if u calculate point by point that we culd obtain, then 4th spot is virtually not in our capacity coz we are a weak team. Its sad to say so but when u see how we play on tv, then u can say that im not right. We are an under-average team. How can we want to compete in champions league. Its madness.

The solution to our problems:

The chairman, the board, and the manager f##k you out of this club.

Yes I'm in agreement with all of the above posts.
I cannot see us going undefeated to the end of the season given our fixture list , including visits to the top 2.
What might help us the fact that Newcastle are as unpredictable as we are. Their defeat at Tottenham  was a bonus for us given our result.
What might help us as well is that most of our remaining games are at home. I know we have lost 4 games at home but looking at the upcoming fixtures we should expect some wins ( Portsmouth , Wolves ,Blackburn , Fulham )
The fact that we are discussing our prospects for struggling to finish 4th is a sign of how far we have fallen behind. 31 points behind Arsenal with 11 games left  is a depressing indicator of how far off the pace we are.

think we will not make it to fourth by end of the season, and this will prove GH is so f**king wrong & hope he just leave the club then.

Looking at it very simply, we are just 4 points behind Charlton who are in 4th place, with a game in hand.  We have 11 games to go.  It's not as if we are 12 points behind, and hoping we win every game with other teams losing 4 or 5.

Charlton, Newcastle, Birmingham, Villa, Fulham and Tottenham are our challengers for 4th spot.  I don't consider their squads to be better than ours.

I'm convinced we can finish 4th, considering the above.  I'm not convinced GH is the manager to be able to achieve it.

I think a lot hinges on Micheal Owen's performance. If he can get in form and bag another 10 goals this season..

We are trying to pip Charlton for f***s sake. How about taking the blinkers off, getting hold of a telescope and watching Arsenal disappear over the horizon.

I actually sent Houllier a video of the Portsmouth-Arsenal cup match from ten days ago with an accompnying letter saying......we have played this lot (Portsmouth) three times this season and not won once. Take a look at how it should be done, hammering a weak team in style. That's what WE used to do to teams.

He is a pillock. Every time he blabbers on about finishing fourth, the interviewers should ask him for his views on the gap between Liverpool and the finest team in the country, Arsenal. And what his plans are for closing that gap..........''well, we have been unlucky with injuries, and we have failed to take our chances and we haven't really had the rub of the green. But I have faith in the boys, we are coming through this stronger, and this will give us a platform to build on for next season. We will be a very different team next season, believe me. Just you watch. I have faith in my boys.'' Or some boll##ks very similar. What a prat we have running our club. An utter prat.
