Four point plan for the future

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

1. the new stadium is a must in my opinion. as much as i love anfield we need to be bringing 60-65000 people through the turnstyles to keep up with the likes of man u and even newcastle. the amount of extra money they generate from home games compared to us is massive. it would also be a statement of intent that this club is looking to the future and not living in the past.

2. the board need to look at themselves and look at the direction that this club is heading. while arsenal are taking football to the next level both on and off the pitch, we are not even guaranteed being in europe next season. there is too much blind optimism by the board who stick by houllier even though he is dragging us down to complete mediocrity. everyone can see that o'neill should be our next manager and if the board have any ambition they should pull out all stops to get him.

3. as for the academy, while houllier is here there is absolutely no chance of any of them getting a taste of first team football barring horrendous injuries. i hear rave reviews about certain youngsters, but most of them are either sent out on loan or sold. the only guy who has figured this season is otsemobor who had a spell at right back and looked quite good. he is now on loan at bolton. john welsh has also been on the bench in europe a few times. i just don't see the talent coming through.

4. here's the truth about houllier. first three years he took us forward. some great signings including hamann, hyypia and henchoz. also some bad ones like ziege, biscan, diomede e.t.c.
won three trophies and finished fourth in 2000-2001. backed this up by finishing 2nd with 80 points (highest r-u total ever) and reaching champions league quarter finals. things were looking up. given 20m to spend that summer to try and push for title. brought diouf (10m) diao (5m) and cheyrou (3.8m). all disasters.

top of premiership after 12 games in 2002-2003. then went on a 15 game run without a win. ended up finishing 5th and getting knocked out in champions league group phase.

been downhill for 18 months and getting worse. he's had his 5 years and his time is up. thank you for trying houllier but please leave now. than you au revoir!

Number 4 is the perfect truth and an inescapable fact.

No one could keep a straight face and say otherwise.

I was just looking at model's and computer generated picture's of the new stadium and i must say, it look's very impresive. I originaly didn't want to move from Anfield because of the history and memories there, but if we want to move up and compete with top european club's then we must.

There's a link below for anyone who hasn't seen this yet, it's directly below the latest new's section.

Here hold on there JBG don't forget us Northerners.  Belfast has Liverpool supporters clubs all over the place, cross community too.  Your right however, easijet put the costs of flights up at the weekend because they only have a few flights, were the ground capacity at Liverpool to increase significantly so that fans were almost guaranteed tickets then we'd get cheaper flights the airlines would be only to willing to exploit a burgeoning market by offereing cheaper flights with more weekend flights.  Better still build a tunnel and build a 120,000 seater.

Build a tunnel, you mean like Channel Tunnel? Good idea, Big Al and why don't you write a letter to the Mayor of Liverpool?
