have you been keeping track of ALL of the football teams in the world or something??

I've kept track of pre-season games of big clubs, it's not that hard to do it's all over tv.

Boro do have a very good right sided midfielder in Mendieta. He was doing well before he got injured, and he was the key driving force behind Valencia's pust to 2 successive CL final before moving to Lazio at such an inflated price. He is on the wrong side of 30 and I don't know if he's recovered or if he can be good enough for Rafa for 1 or 2 seasons at Liverpool.

I still think Boro will be a tough game. You can rarely predict the first of a season, but I'll still think we'll win. If what you say is all relevant to the opening day, I can see Cisse ripping that defence to shreads right now. These are the sort of games we need to start winning if we want to close the gap.

If Boro is full of running with a tight midfield like Bolton, while not necessarily good but are very industrious, it would be a perfect recipe for foiling us because the Spainairds like Morro and Garcia (except Alonso) can get easily disrupted by the close and physical attention.

boro's team will be as follows:

                                 schwarzer

      parnaby       southgate      ehiogu       quedrue

      parlour         mendieta       boateng     downing

                        yakubu          viduka

downing is their only main outlet. also, none of their main strikers have scored in pre season and they've been conceding goals left right and centre. i thought we were slow in the centre of defence but southgate and ehiogu make pellegrino look quick.

our strongest team should be too good for them, providing our attitude is right.

I hope so, stmick.

Ww have so far seen that without Gerrard or Alonso, we seem short of creative options, although Garcia does try his things, he loses possession too easily. I hope a more consistent Liverpool turns up for the Boro match.

On paper, our best 11 seem to have the edge over Boro.
