4th - Really?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

This sides performances are beginning to match Souness's term. We are in some degree of trouble. Does anyone see any light at the end of the tunnel?
I've never seen players who publically back a manager so much off the pitch and play like they couldn't care less on it.

No you are talking sh##e.

The light at the end of the tunnel is Houllier has brought us some degree of success. We have ALOT of quality players and in my opinion a player in Steven Gerrard who could become one of the worlds all time greats.

Michael Owen is a class act when on form, Harry Kewell, Hyypia, Hamann, Baros, Pongolle, Kirkland etc etc.

Lots of them have youth on there side aswell. It looks promising in my opinion. Not negative. The problem is turning the promise into success!!

Well even if we finish 4th which is looking unlikely it will still be a poor finish.
Houllier is a sham, and if the board really want the club to do well they will sack the manager and buy SOME REAL PLAYERS WHO ARE CAPABLE OF CHALLENGING FOR THE PREMIERSHIP AND NOT THE BUNCH OF OVERPAID NOBODIES WE HAVE AT THE MOMENT.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm tired of hearing about everyone's "spirit" and "togetherness"!  I'd much rather hear about a few of them hating each other, but getting it done on the pitch.  Smithy and Emlyn hated each other's guts, but fought like mad for each other on the pitch.  I don't see enough of that with the current team.

Put it this way mate if we finish outside of the top four(which is inevitable now) and we dont sack Houllier and invest in a squad to match Chelsea and Arsenals I am going to give up on the team just the way the team have given up on the supporters they havent earned a simple supporter on that field with the shambolic cr#p they have produced for over a year.

All I can say is FWP.

Get a grip.
Football is a simple game, all you have to do is pass the ball to a player in a red shirt.

Sad thing is, we are now considered just one of the middle pack of teams, right in there with the Villas, Birminghams, Fulhams, Charltons, Newcastles, and Southamptons of this world.  There seems to have been a steady drain in the confidence level of the players in their own ability and the tactical direction coming from the manager.  That said, we simply have too many players who lack the ability to get it done!  Maybe identifying "decent-level" players is all that GH can do, and the truly outstanding prospects are sliding under his radar.  Therefore, until we find someone with a keener eye for talent, top seven-or-eight might be all we can hope for.

He brought some degree of success in the past...I agree.  Losing to a bottom of the table team in Portsmouth twice and another bottom half team in Southampton is not acceptable.  He did not buy the type of players to play defensive football.  Otherwise, he wouldn't have labeled them "next Zidane" or "replace Anelka".  At some time in our lives, we all learn to take responsibility for our own actions.  I would feel better about GH if he would admit his faults.  Keegan, though not the best manager admits his own shortcomings as a manager.  I don't want to repeat what everyone else has already expressed.  The excuses from him are endless and it seems that is what LFC is all about these days, yet the results aren't there and we want RESULTS!  that's the bottom line.

Couldn't agree more!  I just keep asking myself waht Shankly's response would have been.  I know, different times, etc..., but it seems as though, instead of the "It's alright we all believe in you" approach, we need a few home truths administered in the dressing room.  Personally, I'd put Owen on the bench and get him all fired up to the point that, when he finally got out there, he was like a man possessed.  I don't think GH has the bottle to upset Michael.  I think he's so petrified that he'll turn around and say "Right, I'm off", that he's prepared to give him way too much slack.  Imagine if Heskey had performed like Owen for 6-7 consecutive games, no question he'd be on the bench (where he is now).  Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Heskey is the answer to Owen's current shortcomings (he certainly isn't), but don't be giving preferential treatment to the degree that it hurts the team's chances of success.

Well guys, you don't know how much i'am heartbroken. I turned off my tele when KP scored the second goal and i said to myself "i've been in the situation before haven't I, when they get beaten and i'm just sitting here" LFC are in serious trouble at this rate if they keep drawing or loosing. Us LFC fans must be sad and angry but more sad of course. YES YES Owen missed a penelty AGAIN but Neimi was just on top of his game and saved everything. Right now, i'd give anything for Owen to start potting goals once again but i have the confidence he will. I'm a very heartbroken fan all the way from Hong Kong. That is certainly all over now, we can only hope to beat Pompey in midweek at Anfield but what scares me is that we've lost to them twice this season and god knows if we will again. We are slowly creeping down to midtable and clubs like Charton, Villa and Birmningham are chasing above us. We need a turning point to our season and hopefully, that will be in midweek. In that match, the players need to be focused indivually, be well organised at the back and show our anger on the game in a good way, some of the players play as if they dont give a monkeys but hopefully we will show a good fighting spirit.

I know Michael is not hitting the back of the net just yet but i can gurantte you. he will start to, people like RVN as well have been not to the top of their game and form but i'am not saying hes cr#p.

Another thing is UEFA Cup, we must concertrate on that as well as if we win it, we guarantee a CL spot and we will be boasting with confidence if we win the competion, in my opinion, we will get knocked out of Marsilille in the second leg because of the lack of organistaion in the team.

To sum up GH, he is a very lazy and tacticlly cr#p in managment. We are not the club we use to be and if this continues, we will by far get nowhere domesticly and in a European sense.

A suggestion is that maybe we should change formation like 5 - 3 - 2 so we have 5 men in defence, 2 in midfield and 2 up front....?

We will become strong again and we will be a giant of football again one day but not under Houllier.  The players will never openly say what the think so they do show their feelings very clearly in how they play.  Owen was the first to dismiss Houllier's death threats by saying all players get them at some point.  His body language tells us that he's already thinking about leaving and his demeanour shows us he's not supportive of Houllier.  If Houllier had not got Michael Owen In his squad he would have won f all during his time as manager.  Those who say Owen is slow and Owen has lost it,  Well just look East To Manchester and you'll see how another finished player that Houllier dumped, Helped his team thump one of the best clubs in the Premiership.  Roobie Fowler is getting back to his old ways and still maintains the gaol every two games ratio.  People who blame the players fall into the Houllier trap, they let him off the hook, Promises to bring the best available players to Anfield appease the ficklebuggers and in the end two seasons from now he'll still feed them s##t.  Stop looking at the players and blaming them, Don't blame the monkey for dancing poorly to the cr#p music the organ grinders playing.
