IF we lose to Marseille in the UEFA Cup, will Houllier survive the chop? The excuses continue in spite of the return to fitness of all the players whose absence he has bemoaned.

If we get knocked out by Marseilles he will still be in charge ... he won't quit and Moores and Parry won't make a decision on Houllier's future until the end of the season.
You see the problem is twofold
( 1 ) Liverpool have a reputation for not sacking managers
( 2 ) It seems that the manager is  not judged  on recent results on the pitch.

I think Houlliers going to quit ...Something about the way he spoke after the Marseille match makes me think that..I know its wat most of us want..but at the same time -its sad to see someone who really loves the club not succeed.....

He reckons the Marseille players' singing in the dressing room will "do his team talk for the 2nd leg for him"

1) that would probably be more effective than his ever are

2) they were signing because they think we're out and a lot of us probably fear the worst too

3) Thompson should do Houllier's interviews, he doesn't talk ***** and I can't take any more bu11shit from Kermit

In order for GH to get sacked he needs to lose 3 more league games, which sadly I'm certain of.  We could potentially be the team that finally beats Arsenal but Southampton, Portsmouth and the other so called lesser teams could all give us a good seeing to.  That's been the sate of play under Houllier for some time.  Look at the year we finished 2nd and you'll see that we would have been a lot closer to winning but for silly defeats at the hands of these so called weak teams.  These teams once upon a time would have s##t a brick against us now they all have a go.

Houllier will not walk untill he is pushed - Before the Marseilles game he promised the fans he would not let us down by walking away from the club - Theres irony if i ever saw it!Houllier reminds me of a Russian politician - Very manipulitive and very skillful with his words. Houllier seems to have more power at the club than Parry and Moores put together.

Houllier won't go, he will continue to dish out excuses and wouldn't care if the excuses are plausible or even logical...in fact, his excuses over the past two seasons have really been insulting our collective intelligence as true Liverpool fans.
Like many of you said, he will not go unless pushed out.

It could be barrel of a gun time though. We lie seventh at the moment, four points adrift of fourth with two games in hand (though form would suggest winning both of those games is not guaranteed). Getting knocked out of the UEFA Cup could just tilt the balance, it would be a significant point in the season given Houllier's "we're still in three competitions" claim not so long ago

To- days game is a big game for gh , we are known for doing particualy well at southampton?...anything less than a win will not be good enough!, but knowing gh he will adopt the safety first attitude and he will "beat the drum" if we grab a point, and waffle on about how well the boys did to take a point from the "mighty saints"..instead of going out and destroying teams like them. ???
