Could anyone be a little suspicious of his reasons for being here?(if he does make it)
And what kind of message does that put across to the board and the fans?
Personally i'm a little uneasy by this attitude of 'the money would have to be important' given that broadly speaking, in a move of that magnitude it's a fair bet he'd be better paid.
Sevilla's Daniel Alves would be happy to join European champions Liverpool - if the price was right.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez is thought to have made a £7 million bid for the Brazilian as he continues his summer rebuilding.
The 22-year-old says that he would move to Anfield if the deal was right for both him and his club Sevilla.
Alves says that the financial aspects of any move would have to be right for him to move on, although he is keen to further his career.
"The chances of me staying at this club are the same as me leaving," said Alves.
"My aim is to earn as much money as possible to secure my family's future.
"I'm happy here but if there's something better elsewhere then there is no doubt I'd want to go.
"The idea of every player is to grow as a sportsman and financially.
"I'll only leave if the offer is right for Sevilla as well as for me and my family. Then there's no problem.
"I plan to work hard - and I have people to deal with these matters so I'm not worried."
