Peter crouch - Crouch deal agreed for seven million

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I've just seen those clips on SkySportsNews.

Virtually all headers.

It's obvious that when the high crosses come in, the defenders just can't deal with him.

Look.

For years Liverpool went out and bought young strikers for big money and huge reputations........Stan Collymore, Emile Heskey, even Djbril Cisse, and look what happened. Everybody raved about them at first but they flattered to deceive leaving us all massively dissapointed (although to be fair to Djbril, he could come good yet).

With Crouch everybody is expecting him to be useless, so there's every chance of him becoming a success.

I was just watching Sky sports (as always) and they were saying how he would not have a conference until next week. This makes me think that we will be signing someone else before hand to make it a double header. Milito or Figo are the favorites I guess. Imagine Figo crossing for Crouch. :)

Hyypia says that Rafa told him that he will definetly bring in a CB this summer so expect a CB to be signed sooner or later.

Yes come Milito, we definitely need cover for Hyypia and Carra..

Crouch is a decent signing, but the 7M fee was a bit too much. Now we better sell Baros for something more than 7M to make a profit. Perhaps Rafa sees Baros and Cisse are the same type of player and he wants to get rid of one of them. Now that we have Moro, Cisse, Crouch, Le Tallec, and even Mellor, our strike force is pretty much complete. Now we need a quality RW to cross in balls, as we would expect that is Rafa's tactics next season. Let's hope he plays 2 strikers instead of 1. It always looks to me that the lone striker does not have enough support.

£7,ooo,ooo ...That's only about £1,ooo,ooo per foot. I suppose it doesn't sound that bad if you tilt your head back and look at it like that.

Morientes was £6,ooo,ooo = approx £1,ooo,ooo per foot. hmmmm.
we've only won it 5 times

i mentioned i was looking forward to hearing from some defenders who's played against crouch - and who better than our own JC.

this from liverpool.tv

"He was outstanding even against the top teams. His performance against us at Southampton was probably sufficient to get him a move. He was outstanding and very hard to handle.

"He was a nightmare to play against personally and he scored at the back post. He got in behind me. It was my fault."

that'll do me.

By the way, didn't Rafa buy Morientes because he could supposedly get to the end of every cross? Look what happened?

So if that's the case, why do we need Crouch since we already have Morientes?? ??? Shouldn't we be considering a more quality winger instead?

Peter Crouch reminds me of Tor Andre Flo. They are tall, they control the ball well, they like the ball on the ground, they have a good first touch.

Compare the height of Morientes to the height of Crouch.

Yes Crouch is a lot taller, but Morientes timing is no worse than Crouch.

If Crouch can score 16 goals for Southampton, a team which was related, imagine the possibilty with us.  Rafa know's what he is doing - ffs he won us the European Cup at the first attempt, beating teams like Chelsea, Juventus and Milan in the process!!!!!  Have a little faith.  Crouch hasn't even played a match yet for us, and already we're slagging him off.

Woah! That must mean the Cisse is... 14 ft tall!!!
:D

And to whoever it was who said that Le Tallec made up part of a complete strike force, that's like saying Plutonium makes up part of a balanced meal. He may show some promise, but he is a long way from Liverpool quality at the mo.
