For the people who want big name players... - - just for their names...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

This is aimed at anyone moaning about us not buying 'big name players';

Asking for Rafa to buy players just because they 'big name'. The man has plans and wants certain players to fit into those plans, he won't just buy a player because of his history with a previous club, knowning that he will not fit in the Liverpool team and will be sold for a margin of the price the following season. Let the man do his job and see if we go anywhere before you talk :censored:. There are plenty of examples of this scenario, don't ask me to pick out certain ones, theres lots.

Also, i see lots of people asking for the money to be spent wildly i.e. a kid in a sweet shop routine. This would not help the club in long term what so ever and i think that transfers should be paced if its for the good of the club.

Thats my two cents...

yeah! and your comment was actually worth....0.001 cents.

so youve lost the club 1.999 cents already!

bad deal.

So you say signing no hopers is a good idea? so why do some clubs pay 24m for drogba, 27m Ferdinand, 37m to Barca for Figo, etc etc.

It a big confidence restorer, buying such quality.

teams pay 2m for players cause they dont have the big  bucks to pee in the tall weeds with the big dogs!
they wish they could !

Hey if it was a :censored: manager in charge of our team then i'd accept your comments. But seeing as Rafa is the type of manager that spots talent - i will take your comments for comical value and wipe my :censored: with them.

For 24 million that Chelsea payed for Drogba in his first season he turned to be absolute :censored:.

We've never signed galacticos before and I don't think that's going to change however I think we will still sign players with quality such as Alonso and even Garcia whose proven a lot in his first season in the Premiership[who I think will continue to improve].

Rafa is not the type of manager that goes out and spends 15 million on a player. He didn't do it at Valencia and he doesn't done it here.

Couple of things people should know about Real Madrid ........

They were used as a show piece of the Dictatorship that run Spain upto the late seventies  and as such were funded by them.

When Real Madrid were 140 MILLION pounds in the red , the local council bought their training ground  off them and  paid.............140 million quid for it !!!  , not only that  but the Madrid council built them a brand new state of the art  training ground and charged them  1 pound .

Real Madrid will never be allowed to go bust like some of the Italian clubs have  because the Madrid council will not allow it to happen and UEFA  cant allow it to happen  as they are world famous .....like all of you i think its a disgrace its allowed to happen  but  it does .

Hence the reason why Real can afford to buy  "Galactico's "  because they know they will never go broke.

As for Chelsea , thats pretty obvious   as they have mafia money behind them , but as Abramovich said when he bought them   " people like me  play hard because people in my line die young" .....

We have never paid huge amounts for players and probably never will , its not the Liverpool way .
Most of our players in the past have  came from small clubs   (Rush ....Chester )  except for the likes of Dalglish who came from Glasgow Celtic  for 500,000 quid.
Ferdinand was well over priced and at the very end of prices spiralling out of control , he wouldnt fetch half that price now .

Drogba ......well put it this way  Cisse scored consistently more goals than him in the french league ( correct me if im wrong )  and was bought for half the price . What does that tell you ?  every time Chelsea go for a player  the price is hiked up  because they can afford to pay it  and are desperate to buy the player.

I honestly think most of the people saying buy  "big name " players are lads  and think thats what teams do because they have footie manager , not being sarcastic about it , its MHO .

They should also have faith in Raffa  and his abillities

Isn't that what 100% of his signings are based on or does he just buy random players?  :p

i agree with you totally mate, some people have big name fever on here.
most of our legends like daglish, souness, hansen, keegan, hunt etc. etc became legends at the club, they were not legends before - even daglish, he was well respected but most celtic fans dont hold him in the same esteem as the lisbon lions or even henrik larsen.
the big names who played in europe back then included maradona, platini, kempes, ruminegge, zico etc and as good as they all were they all looked at liverpool as the top dogs.
we didnt buy galactico`s back then and it didnt do us any harm because we had a manager in bob paisley who found our galactico`s at places like partick thistle and scunthorpe not boca juniors and barca.
for the hundred and odd million we`ve spent over the last few years our two best players came through the ranks.
