Hey guys - Its been a while

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Hey guys I haven't posted in a while because I left Hong Kong and moved to Sydney for Uni and I've been here for 2 weeks now. Haven't kept uptodate with any football news however heres a post from me after a very long time.

If we signed any of Millito, Upson or Gallas I'd be happy. People are already talking about how we haven't signed any quality players yet but thats not to worry, its only been 12 days of the transfer window and theres ample time left to sign players. I do believe we will see 1 - 2 well-known and quality players by the end of August such as the likes of Figo, Luque, Aimar, Baraja etc. We really need a good and well-known player to boost the morale of the squad.

As for the squad next season i'd love to see something like this with a bit of squad rotation because good players are left on the bench.

---------Reina

Finnan Carra Millito Gallas

Figo Gerrard Alonso Riise

         Cisse Nando

Bench -
Garcia
Zenden
Baros
Hyypia
Dudek
??

Leftovers -
Pongolle
Mellor
Troare
Nunez
??

Sorry If I've left anyone...

I've chosen Figo over Garcia because with Figo's crossing skills and Nandos heading ability, that Could be the key to our goals. Its also a sad thing because Garcia will have to be left out somewhat.

Millito and Gallas will be fantastic assets to our squad if we can cough them up. They are both very pacey and good players. Not sure if Gallas can play on the left though, if not, throw in Troare.

I haven't actually seen Reina play but what I've seen of him, hes looked pretty average. Anyway i'm just trusting Rafa and you guys on that one.

I do believe even though Hyypia is ageing, he will be a vital player in the Champions League for us because he is more suited to the 'not fast' style like the premiership where sometimes he can't keep up. I do think
we wouldn't have won the trophy without him.

If we do manage to sign all these players then some of them will have to get use to not playing many minutes of football because everyone needs a chance. I do feel Rafa is looking to increase the size of our squad dramatically because with all our injuries and whatnot, we want to be well equiped for the coming season.

Hopefully, there will be enough playing time for all our players.

Welcome back chiggz :)

Good post and I agre with what your saying. Im starting to like rafas idea of squad rotation he looks as if he wants 2 teams that he can swap and change when he wants.

Welcome back mate, i also think we might be getting some new high profile signings very soon. Rafa said that he has a few options for the right side of midfield and he will also be buying a CB.

I've heard the prospective new signing - Mohamed Sissoko is a good player (although not a big name).  He was once hailed as the new Viera.  Hopefully we'll get Figo though and Gallas would be a tremendous acquisition (proven in the prem) although it's been speculated today that were also in for Upson

The uni phase is the best time of your life, from my personal experience.

Enjoy your time there because although there are exams to worry about, you have no other worries in life. You will discover what pressure for time and performance etc. when you start your working life.

Oh...I forgot about 1 thing.

If you manage to get a job like one called Harry Kewell, then this work is so much more fun because you'd get to sit on your @rse, live on your past reputation, do nothing on the pitch until you get the call to be substituted, not expected to do anything on the pitch (because the fans have written you off) and best of all get paid lots of money!

Welcome back...
