I dunno if this was said in the press conference, but i assume it was:
Rafa Benitez feels it will be difficult for Liverpool to sign Luis Figo as the European champions close on a deal for Peter Crouch.
Portugal international Figo has expressed a desire to move to Anfield after falling out with Real Madrid coach Wanderley Luxemburgo.
But the transfer has hit an impasse as Real are demanding a fee for the experienced winger while Liverpool want to land Figo on a free transfer.
A compromise is proving arduous to come to and Reds boss Benitez believes the chances of the mercurial wide man moving to Merseyside are receding.
"We have two or three options for the right side and we are trying to see which is the best option," said Benitez.
"Figo will be difficult. At this moment it is really difficult."
Benitez, though, is hoping to add another fresh face to his squad before the start of the season after maintaining his interest in Southampton striker Crouch.
Saints have already rejected two bids from Liverpool and are believed to be seeking around £8 million for the England international.
Crouch has voiced a willingness to secure a quick return to The Premiership and Benitez confirmed talks with Southampton are ongoing.
He added: "He (Crouch) is a player I like and I would like that we finish talking about Crouch as soon as possible.
"We want to see the player working with us as soon as possible.
"Rick Parry is in contact with Southampton. Always, the manager wants a player as soon as possible for training with them."
Liverpool have almost finalised their swoop for Valencia midfielder Mohamed Sissoko, while Benitez is also keen to recruit a new centre half.
