Gerrard blames benitez and parry - Get out judas

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Rafas Amigo » Wed Jul 06, 2005 3:53 am

This is the latest to come out and im sure there will be more during the day to follow, this story is going to run and run...

STEVEN GERRARD is quitting Liverpool in a blaze of fury — citing boss Rafa Benitez and chief executive Rick Parry as the culprits.

Gerrard has told Kop chairman David Moores, with who he still has a close relationship, he would have stayed if Benitez and Parry had shown they really wanted him.

But the Anfield skipper is convinced the pair would prefer to plot the club’s future without him.

Even their last-ditch offer of an extended contract worth £100,000-a-week has failed to persuade him differently.

Gerrard is furious at the club’ s Spanish boss telling Liverpool fans how much he valued Gerrard — even though he has NEVER listened when the midfielder offered his tactical opinions.

And he was livid when Benitez told him in a face-to-face meeting on Monday that agent Struan Marshall was advising him badly and working behind his back.

That was the pair’s second bust-up in just three days.

The first was on Saturday at the club’s Melwood training ground when Gerrard raged at the manager “Don’t take me for an idiot”.

The rows pushed Gerrard over the edge and he was forced into tabling a transfer request after Liverpool turned down a British record £32million bid from Chelsea.

Gerrard, 25, who lifted the Champions League trophy only six weeks ago, has told friends he is “distraught” at having to leave the club he loves.

He is also deeply upset at the way the Anfield hierarchy are making HIM out to be the villain of the piece.

I think that the real situation is that Gerrard wants to leave because he is not convinced that Liverpool will be able to win the EPL title, the only club level medal he does not currently posses. He is careful not to incur the Anfield faithful's wrath and wants to be seen as "not really wanted" and "with a heavy heart, is being pushed out".

This is utter b*ll*cks as Liverpool has upped the offer to 100,000 per week. His agent must have put things into his mind that Chelsea would be a better bet and that at 25, "time is running out for him" and that a player of his calibre deserves a better team rather than wait for Rafa's efforts to show improvement which may take a few more seasons.

but he has lied to our faces and consequently betrayed ever LFc fan, and then he tries to blame Rafa and parry for his departure. Does he have any respect, frankly I would expect better from a local lad.

WE OWE HIM NOTHING!

babu, I totally agree with LiverpoolMadman that Gerrard should not spin stories just to exonerate himself from any fans' anger and in the process try to blame Benithez and Parry.

He has ambitions to win trophies and honours. Benithez just delivered the CL trophy against all the odds but I thinks he does not fancy Liverpool's chances in the EPL next season as he does not have the confidence that the club possess enough qualities for that kind of push.

Just ask for a transfer, stop whining about a not being totally wanted and the situation cannot be repaired etc. This is the bollox, nothing else.

Exactly azriah. Yet again he shows his disrespect for the fans and the club by playing the blame game, thinking we are stupid enough to believe him.

Well Stevie only you are stupid enough to be manipulated by :censored: (SFX), we are not going to call your bluff.

he's not going to change his mind, the club wouldn't come out with statements that he is going, if their was still a chance of him staying.

this is from what of Chris Bascombe's latest artivles.

"By now, provoked by the new sense of urgency at Anfield, Chelsea had made their move. The £32m bid, sent by fax, was rejected.

Their emergence from the shadows was the final piece of the jigsaw for Benitez, who'd made it clear from the outset there was more to the breakdown of negotiations than meets the eye.

Liverpool see Chelsea's bid as a cynically timed moved which should, but may not prove to be, a spectacular own goal.

The Londoners' offer has left them open to allegations their murky hands have been pulling the strings all along. The speed with which they've revealed their intentions is simply too convenient to be mere opportunism.

Some journalists were briefed as early as Sunday night a Chelsea bid was on the way. This presents yesterday's revelations about the breakdown of contract talks and presentation of Liverpool as the big, bad wolf in a new light."

:(  I feel for you Scott I dont think you have slept much the last few days mate , have you?
He can :censored: off now as far as Im concerned he wanted to leave all along, and Rafa told him his agent is a dirty scum bag, and plotting behind his back but he believed his agent, feck him, he will rue the day he left the mighty reds.

Not one player that has left us has gone on to better things, not one.
Rush came back with his tail between his legs, Robbie Fowler, Macca, Owen. No they where idolised by us but the grass is never greener on the otherside.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
