I have always seen ex-liverpool players get a good reception when they come back to anfield ??? Am i wrong ?

That doesn't mean that i'm talking about gerard leaving but about throwing projectiles, etc on players when the come back to anfield.

i dont agree with that.. obviously you havent seen the drunken photos of stevie, carra, etc   now thats what I call body language im sure he was just trying to act professional in istanbul so he doesnt get ripped on, on tv and the papers. everyone already knows of his love for liverpool anyways.

Obviously I HAVE seen the photos actually, less presumptions please!!

The key word you use is DRUNK, drink plays with the senses, have you never been down and thought let me have a drink (if you are old enuff that is? Not taking the p.iss btw!)

And everybody knows of his love of the club, well im sure MOST are really beginning to question tat now, if he really loved the club he would come out and say 'I LOVE THIS CLUB, I AM SIGNING' end of...until he does that i'm sorry but this will now be questioned.

i can drink you under the table

Go for it mate!! Not really a drinker, more of a smoker myself, if you check my avater and sig!!!

But saying that, bring on the spirits anytime and I'll do ya, as long as i can smoke too!!!!   :D  :p

haha no fair, one bong rip and i'm f*cked. i'd be in the corner :censored: to internet porn   :bowdown

I hope stevie stays.  No doubt he will get a good reception when he comes back because he has done so many good things for this club.  If he is to leave, he better leave on a higher note than this though.  Many people are expressing their frustration.  If he goes to chelsea  , then I hope when he comes back we will cheer him and not throw sh*t at him like barca fans do to figo (figo never should have let barca, that was dumb).

Hopefully this will be resolved on a high note, and I want to clear up any confusion about throwing things.

I would NEVER do that.  I was just kidding and throwing things at stevie is a bloody stupid idea, like mikopool said.  So Im hoping stevie will be cheered by the fans whether he's wearing a liverpool kit or a chelsea or real madrid one.

At this stage, I'm not interested in debating whether Gerrard staying or going would be benificial or detrimental to the team.

The only thing I've got to say here is that his representatives have behaved absolutely shamefully. Talks have been going on for, what, 5 days? Pulling out of talks wholesale after that length of time is ridiculous. Pulling out after 5 months would be premature, but this is just astonishing.

If Gerrard has given SFX's words and actions his full backing, then I hope he chokes on his money, frankly.

Let's not forget though that we've been here before, and however grim things look for us keeping our skipper today, he's still on our books and he's not been given permission to talk to another club.

How sad though that the best close season for the club we've had in years is spent talking about how shady agents are. :(

Tomorrow's Express:

Gerrard/back
by Paul Joyce

CHELSEA last night tabled a British transfer record £32m bid for Steven Gerrard.

The amazing offer - which will worth £125,000-a-week in wages and constitutes a £65m package - came as Liverpool launched a last ditch bid to keep the Anfield skipper out of the clutches of the Premiership champions.

Chairman David Moores and chief executive Rick Parry left a scheduled board meeting before joining manager Rafael Benitez for emergency talks with Gerrard and advisor Struan Marshall at the club's Melwood training ground at 5.30pm.

Liverpool presented Gerrard with a new £100,000-a-week contract as they belatedly matched the package the England midfielder was looking for when talks opened last Wednesday.

Gerrard was first to leave the meeting an hour later and, as discussions continued into the night, the boyhood Liverpool fan was facing the biggest dilemma of his career of whether to sign the new deal or sever his ties.

Alerted by the breakdown in discussions between player and club over the weekend, Chelsea have dusted down their proposal from last season which looked set to snare Gerrard until he underwent a last-gasp change of heart.

The deal - which would eclipse the £29.1m Manchester UNited paid Leeds United for Rio Ferdinand in 2002 - is understood to be success-related and could eventually rise to £35m.

Manager Jose Mourinho and chief executive Peter Kenyon met yesterday to discuss their strategy and tabled the huge bid yesterday afternoon to try and ward off interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid who are keen to make Gerrard their next Galactico.

Chelsea are also ready to spend £21m on luring Shaun Wright-Phillips from Manchester City, but the capture of Gerrard would represent the biggest coup of the Roman Abramovich era.

Gerrard was tight-lipped last night as he agonised over what decision to make having earlier been told by Benitez he was key to his plans and there was no private agenda by Liverpool to sell him.

''We tried three times last season to talk with Steve about the future and the new deal and he said that we needed to wait,'' said Benitez, who unveiled Bolo Zenden as his latest signing amid a day of feverish behind the scenes events.

''I can assure you that we want Steven to stay with us for the next eight years. If I renew my deal and stay for four more years, I would like to see Steve as assistant manager or a chief scout or as a manager when I go.
''We want him to stay here all his life and we will try until the end. The fans need to understand that the club, the board, the chief executive and myself want him to stay.''

There needs to be swift resolution to the saga with Liverpool beginning the defence of their Champions League crown next Wednesday against Welsh minnows Total Network Solutions and Gerrard is likely to provide his answer today.

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Well if he is being offered what he asked for what does he 'have to think about'. Unless he has already set his mind on a move, well if that Express story is to be beleived then we have called his bluff, and we will see EXACTLY what SG wants to do!
