great post Scottbot and I feel the same way, when we won inn Istanbul and Stevie came out and sadi he is staying I was :censored:

relieved, and now he decides he's off!

I think he has been very deceitful, and it is so much like the MO situation it's scary, hopefully we don't get ripped off this time, anything less than 30 million will be a :censored:

outrage.

Yer but we will probably get shafted again gerrard 20 mill and Figo thrown in the deal like Nunez was :angry:

mmmmmmmm.................... you maybe right instead of Parry and Rafa, expect to see Ian Cotton instead, welcoming Zenden, and to make matters worse Dirk Kuijt is playing a pre season friendly today with Alphen A/D Rijn :angry:

well i don't know whats going on with this situation but the whole thing stinks of agents mis-advising players and players no longer being loyal enough to clubs too.

remember the time when wage structures were strictly adhered to and not broken for anyone - ultimately it undermines the entire team if one player thinks (or rather is told by his agent) he is worth something like twice the next highest paid player - Rafa builds his squads around team mentality not individuals. What if one player gets 100k a week then everyone else wants a raise and then there is no money left for no recruits - surely that does not help the development of the team.

also i think UEFA/FIFA should look at what teams like Madrid and Chelsea get away with, if they want to poach a player by offering to double his wage that should not be allowed - why should all the value go to the player? there should be more in the transfer fee and less going to the player otherwise you can always destabilise all but the highest earning players - may be a cap on what they can pay at 10% over the players existing contract. So if Madrid really wante to pay Gerrard 150k/week for four years, based on him earning 80k/week now (who knows) that'd mean an extra 13m to Liverpool on top of the touted 30m transfer but more to the point only 88k to Gerrard - would he want to leave then?

Wed: Talks between SFX and Parry take place. SFX make ridiculous demands but LFC don't reject them and simply listen to what SFX have to say.

Thurs: SFX return for talks but seem less interested. The club detect that Gerrard isn't interested any more. Gerrard privately claims Rafa wants him out. The skipper feels actions of club suggest they want to sell. Someone (SFX?) appears to have got to Gerrard and has brainwashed him into believing he's not wanted. LFC deny this is the case.

Sat: Gerrard is used to Houllier's friendly-friendly, arm around a player approach where as Rafa is respectful but tougher (Michael Owen discovered this). As a result Gerrard's relationship with Rafa is not as good as the one he had with Houllier. Gerrard arrived late for training following Carragher's wedding and was made to train alone. Rafa and Gerrard spend 1 hour talking at Melwood. It is claimed the duo had a serious disagreement regarding the contract talks. Following that meeting LFC will tell you that Rafa contacted Anfield and said 'Make Gerrard feel special. He's convinced we want to sell him'. Source close to Rafa insist he doesn't want to sell Gerrard.

Sun: British newspapers are informed by a mystery source (SFX?) that talks have hit problems. Several tabloids run reports of Gerrard feeling club is pushing him out. SFX inform Liverpool that Gerrard will reject every contract offer and will now quit the club.

Mon: Every tabloid and broadsheet is tipped off that talks have now collapsed because of the situation. It appears that SFX have fed more information out in the hope of embarrassing chief executive Rick Parry at this afternoon's press conference for Bolo Zenden.

CONCLUSION:

SFX are advising Gerrard to quit Anfield

Liverpool prepared to offer Gerrard £100k-a-week

Chelsea and Real Madrid offering approximately £120k-a-week

Rafa hasn't forgotten Gerrard's lack of commitment earlier in the season regarding his contract/future

LFC are in debt and needed funds to help repair this problem hence the reason why Rafa hasn't been given a blank cheque book this summer as fans expected

LFC will consider any silly bids

Parry wants Gerrard to reduce his contract demands

SFX believe Rafa is using the Spanish media to make it look like Gerrard wants out and is to blame

SFX are leaking their side of things to the British media to try and embarrass Reds

Interested clubs almost certain to make official bids within next 72 hours

LFC will never admit any of the claims that they are trying to push him out so their next statement should prove very interesting. It is likely they will play down everything from their point of view.

IMO Ciggy made a great point.
If Gerrard would like to stay at Anfield he wouldn't set his wage so high, at the point we can meet his demands.
FFS what for he needs this extra money for ??
Buy the car nr 100th ??
His current wage is something 99% of population can only dream of !!
FFS he has a chance to stay the leader of the club which raised him for a long time !!
FFS he capitained us to EC Championship, which for example Vieri with his enormous wage never achieved !!
FFS it'd be veeeeeery hard to see him switch clubs and leave Anfield
