Zizou - I think he should play his last worldcup

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

In my opinion, I think that Zidane should play his last world cup in 2006 purely for the fans. I think he will be at the age of 32 or 33 next year and really that isn't so bad because many players are still playing their football at very old ages such as Bergkamp and Maldani and many more. I don't think the France coach will hesitate to take him back as a matter of fact, he'd be absoutely delighted. I just do feel that the world cup could feel very empty without him if you know what I mean, it would be more special.

I say the legend himself should make himself even more special and legendary for returning back to France one last time for the supporters of football and espically the supporters of the French national team.

Thought and comments?

Can someone remind me why Zidane has retired from International football again ???

It's a nice thought but NO.

Zidane strugles to play 90 minutes nowadays. I don't beleive in returns for players, it would be sending out the wrong sort of message to the rest of the players.

France drew to Israel twice and Ireland once, I think.

They have been in serious decline for some time, if you look at there squad now, its mostly new players, the likes of Zidane,Lizarazu,Makalele, Thurum, Desailly, are retired and they are trying to build a new squad.

They are seriously stuggling to make the World Cup, Henry hasn't fired for France since the 98 World Cup, and Pires never looks as impressive when he plays for France.

But bringing back Zidane would just be silly, in a few years they will probarbly have a squad that can compete for Internation tournaments.

They are going to be huge in 2008
The next generation is quite impressive... Just wait for Mexès, Cissé, Rothen, Evra or Govou to show what they are all about! I am fearing a new champions team, 10 years after the Deschamps, Blanc, Zizou, Barthez squad...

It would be nice to see Zidane showing off his awesome skills but he knew when it was time to retire from international football just look at Desailly
