Manchester United? Oh you mean Manchester U.S.A.!

Thankyou A.B. that was very original and poigniant.

Without trying to sound like Stu, most of us already know about the Man USA tag and will use it if we feel like it.

Now, this thread is about who you would like to see (realistically) in a Reds shirt.

Now I personally would like LFC to explore the possibility of signing Mark Schwarzer from Middlesborough (GK). Does anyone know what Schwarzer is worth?

Now A.B., who would YOU like to see in a Reds shirt?

I would like to know how we missed out on picking up Cahill last season. I could see it coming a now according to premierleague.com he was rank 20th out of the top 100. And Everton picked him up for a measley 7 mill.

This thread has been done to death and in those threads I've already said who I would want in the Red shirt therefore I don't want to repeat it again.

Is there any other possibilities of other players, rather than forum posters banding about the same names time and again.

you have to remember that if we want to challenge the teams at the top, we need players who are total class.

Ive never seen any of these names play.

How about.......Nedved, Owen, Robinhio, Kaka, Ronaldinhio, or that new german whizkid whose name I cant think of.

I know its a little far fetched, but these are the calibre of players we need to match chelsea and Arsenal over a season, and become consistent. If we are gonna go for players of unknown quantity, we may struggle to be consistent.

Like they say...... form is temporary, class is permanent!

I know where you're coming from, I've been a bit disappointed at some of the players we've been linked with myself (Crouch in particular).

However, buying those players you mentioned is just not realistic.  If you look at the buys some of our rivals have made over the last few years, it is not necessarily the 'big name players' or the ones with the big price-tags that do well.

A couple of years ago no one had heard of Robben or Cech but look at them now.  I have a feeling that we're gonna regret it if we don't get this guy Kuijt.  He's not a big name like the players you mentioned, but he's a very good player who's on the verge of being a 'big-name player' i think.  The same goes for Shaun Wright-philips.  People are saying we shouldn't pay 15 mil for him, but his value's only gonna go up.  If we don't go for him this close-season I don't think we'll ever get him.

Fabregas,Senderos,Van Persie,Viera,Henry,Pires weren't exactly well known names now where they ?

Fabregas is only 17 but he's helped Arsenal very much especially when Viera was injured. Senderos has kept Campbell  on the bench and Van Persie, he's scored 10 goals in his first season with Arsenal.

The three youngsters may not be world class yet but they've been more than impressive. Viera,Henry and Pires speak for themselves. Some laughed when Wenger bought Robert Pires, they aren't laughing now are they?

Just because you've never seen these players play doesn't mean that they aren't good or that somebody else hasn't seen them play for that matter.

Nedved,Robinho,Kaka,Ronaldinho would cost more than 100 million pounds. I don't believe we can buy those players when we have a budget less than 50 million pounds this summer.

Xabi Alonso wasn't a household name before he signed with us, in fact I can guarantee you that the majority of us have never seen him play prior to him comming here. So should had we not signed him because we haven't seen him? Thank God we did because he's a class player.

You're way off the mark with this post.

£50m? I'd say our budget is £20mil, tops!

Not only would we not be able to afford them, there's no way they would join us, or any English team apart from Chelski. Ronaldinho is a god at Barca, Robinho is going to Madrid, Kaka loves Milan and Nedved we don't need anyway.

We havenit signed anyone yet because we are trying to drive the prices of the players we are linked with down. Yes, we've just won the CL, but we still ain't rich, and certainly won't splash anymore than £9-£10m on a single player.

On top of all this, we may need a new right back as well if things end up bad! :(

I didn't say our budget was 50 mil, it's under 50 mil. Secondly there is no way in hell our budget is 20 million tops.

Reina alone is 8 million pounds, if we buy Kuyt he would cost 6 million at the least. That's 14 million on two players, buying Milito would cost another 6 million giving you a total of 20 million. Now are you suggesting that we will only be buying three players this summer? I don't think thats possible.

We had a 20 million loss however we've made huge amounts of money with tv revenue, ticket sales,etc.. from the Champions League. Thats more than 20 million for the transfer market.

How can we possibly have a lower budget then last year when this time around we've won the CL, have you thought about that before posting that 20 million is our budget tops?

How else do you entice a new manager? I can imagine Parry saying to Rafa "Yeah, come to us and we'll give you no money to rebuild a mediocre squad." He would have told us to f**k off!

We speculated to accumulate, which paid off. Cisse's cash was already stowed away so that didn't count towards last year's transfer kitty, and you mentioned the loss from last year? That loss has to be re-couped.

Sorry, you did say under £50m. I wasn't completely clear on the £20m issue, I admit. I believe that is the kitty that has been initially handed to Rafa. He already has made back £3.5m on Diouf, and i'm sure a few more will go so he can make a bit more cash to re-build.

We'll get Reina for £5m, Kuyt for £7.5 - £8m and Milito for £5m. That's majority of the cash gone, so the rest will be up to Rafa to wheel and deal.

How do you know that we'll get Reina for 5 million pounds?

Zaragoza value Milito at 6 million pounds, they won't sell him for anything less than that as he's one of their best players.

Man City value him close to 20 million pounds, how are we going to rebuild a squad if one player is worth 20 million pounds?
